Sweet Street reviews, kinda
Mar. 23rd, 2021 09:58 amMy Sweet Street stuff arrived yesterday and completed that particular order, so I figure I might as well crack on into it because I couldn't wait. Spoiler: I love just about everything I ordered and want to go back and get the rest aside from the odd sunglasses.
See yesterday's post for the pile o' boxes. Today we deal with the contents of said boxes.
Behold!

This is everything from the pile o boxes. You've got the pleather pants, the jumper, the skirt, the twist-tie tee, the holographic tennies, the metallic ballet flats, and two blind bags of AG food against a backdrop of my Squishmallows.*
I've tried to adjust colors and lighting as I hadn't actually planned on this review when I took the pics. I'd been on my way to bed when the boxes appeared, y'know? But my house is a sucking light vortex and I didn't have my extra lights upstairs so we'll make due and I'll mention discrepancies when needed.

And the bomber jacket that showed up last week. We ready?

Today's model will be Kira as she's the newest and she'd fallen over so I had to grab her anyway. Clearly she was volunteering!

We begin with the twist tie shirt, the black pleather pants, and the holo tennies. More often than not, the flash pictures will be a smidge more color accurate, particularly for the tee.

The shirt is pretty soft but it's very thin. Probably because it's obviously meant to be layered under the jumper and the jacket and they aren't going for bulk in a Spring-y release. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the twist in person and I still don't really get it, but it's not the worst thing ever, I suppose. The print, however, is a bit pixelated and that's not a great look. It's not terrible, but it's not as crisp as it should be given that it's not from the CYO creator which is basically print your own print kinda stuff. It Velcros up the back. Ooh. Ahh.

The pants I fully expect to disintegrate before Cass's kid is a teenager (she's two and some change at this point) but I also suspected as much before I even ordered them. I'm not well versed in such material for people but I've seen similar doll fabric just... die. Anyway. They're very soft and shift from black to a very dark charcoal gray, depending on how the light hits them. I didn't have a ton of trouble getting them on or off Kira, but they weren't especially easy. Which is to be expected given they're pleather doll pants. :P Annnnnnnnd I regret nothing about buying them. If not for my fears for their longevity, I'd be buying a second or third pair as we speak. As it is, I still might since they look so damn cool. They just pull on so there's nothing you need to fiddle with.

Holographic tennis shoes are my absolute favorite thing and I did not expect that. They are just AWESOME. They slide right on and off (but not before you want them to) and I suspect that I might even be able to get them on Sam or on over socks without an issue. The holo is visible on the side as well and I love the shit out of these. Do this more often, AG. Make them in all the holo colors. Do eeeeeeeeeeeet. Or put these in regular rotation.

Bomber jacket to complete the look. I'll be honest: this look works with the jacket but isn't my favorite without it. With it, however, we have a solid Look going on and I approve. I love the iridescent look to the jacket over the cotton candy sky pattern and it really pops when paired with these pants.

The jacket is very thin and the pockets are just for show, but given the price point, I'm not really sure I'd expect otherwise. It'd be nice but I'm not disappointed, I suppose is the best way to put it. The material feels pretty nice and I was worried about that as I was having flashbacks to windbreaker material and was not super looking forward to that. This is not that. Huzzah!

Zipper obviously works. I'd say that if this is catching your eye, it's worth picking up if you think you'll be upset about missing it. It really does finish off the look here and it's awfully cute. ♥
Oh, I will say that I'm not sure how it'll hold up to a lot of use though. I can't really see it being a thing for most adult collectors, but kids who like to change their doll's outfits as often as they change their own might run into problems with it crackling or something with age. Won't swear to it, but I do think it's worth keeping in mind.

Next up, the skirt. This is clearly not the ideal combo but it's cute for now. The skirt reminds me SO much of a skirt/dress combo I had as a kid and that probably helps a lot with loving it.

It's pretty lightweight and has the added bonus of there being no difference between the front and back aside from the AG tag which happens to naturally fall to the side if you choose to go with what you might consider the front anyway. I like the elastic silver band and it helps fuel the nostalgia love. The tiers lay pretty flat but there's the suggestion of movement and I love this more than I thought I would.
This means I've saved my favorite for last... the jumper.

Spoiler: it lives up to the love I had hyped up for it. :D Of everything I bought from this collection, it has the thickest material. Probably so your doll doesn't flash anyone. You can slip it on without having to entirely unzip the outfit which is nice, though you do have the option to do that if it's easier for you.
I kind of wish it had a pocket or two but I also can appreciate it without them.

I don't think the straps are adjustable, though they do have a metal ring to help give this some weight.

The metallic purple flats are very pretty but when compared to the tennis shoes, they are a PITA to put on. I got the right foot on mostly correctly but the left was much more difficult. I think if my nails were shorter or not painted green (and thus I wasn't worried about accidentally inflicting green wounds on Kira), I might've had an easier time. Still, my right hand has short nails and it does most of the work so maybe these just aren't the easiest to do. To be fair, I always have trouble with the ones that want you to angle the foot just right under the criss-cross straps. Cute look, requires some finagling.

I'm not sure if the blind bag codes mean anything, but in case they do, I did keep this one like stupidly large. 3510ZSB and 3510ZSD turn out to be the popsicles and berries/berry smoothie packs, or at least they were for me. Or, y'know, if you're in person, at least one of the super flat ones is the popsicles.

Speaking of which, how do I always forget that AG has yet to figure out their sizing ratio? The popsicles actually seem to be the right size but the smoothie isn't and the berries probably aren't. I really wish they'd included something so your doll could freakin' hold the popsicles because you either have to angle it like a cigarette (why) or manage to lean it just right and pray that a stray gust of wind doesn't make anything wobble because it will fall to the ground. Said Popsicle is one of the rare ones and is pretty hefty and if it had a holder, I'd be fully in love. As it is, I still like them and I'm pleased with both sets even if Kira can't freakin' hold the smoothie AT ALL.

♥ I love this combo so much. Seriously, love it so much. She's so cute! Kira pulls off pink very well.

In case you wanted to see the jacket and me swapping out the shoes. Kira's wearing this, minus the jacket, right now. And probably for the foreseeable future, honestly.
*- I am both annoyed as hell that people FINALLY caught on to how cool the Squishies are because now I can't get them at work as they're always sold out and vindicated because they are awesome and you lot have been sleeping on that awesomeness, universe. Woe.
