Sep. 1st, 2021 07:52 amToday is annoying me. In reverse order: the YC stuff I wanted (this and this) but was told wouldn't show up for another two weeks? Showed up and sold out yesterday afternoon/late morning sometime. Despite me checking earlier that morning and them still not being out yet. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
Ended my shift at work not wanting to risk slamming a big heavy thing into my leg if I didn't have to, so I was lazy and didn't. As I was limping away (literally - my leg was about to start seriously cramping up) boss lady is all hey, did coworker do -something-? I say yes and then she calls me on the lazy. It was a calculated move but in addition to being lazy, every other time I go to put my broken down totes away on Wednesday morning, they've condensed everything in prep for the morning truck. Sooooooo... if you do feel like slamming the things around, you get fussed at for doing so because they need the space. If you don't, you're not being considerate.
But the real kick in the pants was the latest round of Good News/Bad News. Ready?
Good News: Corporate finally figured out that they're going to have to join the $15 an hour club if they have any hope of getting/keeping employees. So sometime this fall (I've heard October and November), absolute minimum starting pay is $13. If you don't make that much already, you get bumped up like the last time they did a new base pay. I... don't make that much so I should be bumped up, which I guarantee is higher than my yearly raise would've been anyway. Huzzah!
Bad News: When telling one of the newbies about said hike, I asked what she made. She told me. She basically makes just under the $13. That means she makes, all things considered for my hellish job, significantly more than I do... and I've worked there for eons. I mean, I kind of expecting them to be making more than I do but it's one thing to know and another to know, especially when the SM apparently said that everyone makes a certain amount and I sure as fuck don't.
So no, til my pay gets bumped up, I don't really feel like working harder than anyone else because I think at this point it's safe to say I make the least at the store. Fuck that shit.

Date: 2021-09-10 03:36 pm (UTC)I don't blame you for going all "fuck this shit" on them, because seriously - you put up with A LOT to be one of the lowest paid employees at the store.

Date: 2021-09-14 08:07 am (UTC)I'm now not entirely sure new girl was being honest because it turns out that she has a way of maybe not lying but ~embellishing~ the truth, but I don't particularly want to ask the other new girl what she makes to fact check since it's not like I can waltz up to the SM and say hey, my ass has been here for ages, you guys clearly need me as it's a crapshoot on whether you're open when I'm not here, so pay up.

Date: 2021-09-14 11:56 pm (UTC)One would think you are in a good negotiating position because you have been there for so long, but if they just close the store when you can't be there (which, WTAF??) then I guess it kinda cancels that out. I definitely wouldn't be asking new employees about their pay rates, especially the weirdos that your store seems to draw like a magnet o.O
I hope you can find something that will pay you what you're worth, because that's a lot of nonsense right there.
