Still need to buy the latest SVT graphic novel, but I did read it via Libby. As per usual, it included a preview of the next one. WHY DO ALL THE ONES I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO FOR THE STORY HAVE THE SHITTY ARTIST? Ahem. Sorry. Not shitty but the one whose SV work is... ehhhhh.

God the artist is just...ok the changes they made are bad enough. I get diversity but could we at least make cousins Janet & Lila the same race? The twins have what almost seem like orange hair. I have been reading them from the library but they are too expensive to buy when I can't stand the style. Unfortunately I had bought 2-4 when I realized the artist had changed. I gave them to my cousin's kid. She doesn't have decades of picturing SV characters to have trampled on.

I think they're alternating artists at this point and one of them I like (I don't love *all* the changes as Blond Bruce is Not My Bruce Patman), and they're the 'main' artist and I think they generally do the covers and then there's the other one who did Nora's book and Brooke's book and uuuuuuuuuuuugh, their style is just off enough that I spent the entire book wishing we'd just waited another month or three for the main artist. And then I feel like an asshole because art is subjective and all that jazz and there are moments in each of those books that I do like but overall it's like the universe has chosen the secondary characters I like and said no pretty art for you.

I think so too. I know the BSC alternates artists but I feel like they do a better job and I can at least identify the main players (don't get me wrong, some of those choices annoy me too, my poor Dawn only having one book so far (I get why they "couldn't" do Little Miss Stoneybrook but they could have (and should have) done the Ghost at Dawn's House). But in the case of SV the style differences between artists are a tad...off.

I also dislike Blond Bruce and this version of the Unicorn Club especially Lila because the bullying has been dialed up to eleven and I'll be honest reading SVT as a child I kind of just thought they were a "popular" club who wore purple.

Seeing your review of the latest on GR made me realize I need to catch up with my reading, LOL!! I put the last 3 on hold at the library, but only #5 and #7 came through. I had to get an actual librarian to put #6 on hold for me because the app was telling me it was an error. I'm waiting for #6 to get in my hands before I go on a reading tear.

And yeah, I saw at the Not Great artist was back again after the tragedy that was The Haunted House, SIGH.

Why are they torturing us like this? *whines* GN!Lila is already ... not my favorite Lila (but I guess fitting for SVT since their take on Lila was always sketchy at best) but oh. Oh dear.

Silly app, just let the books go to the people who want/need them!

It took its time, but it has arrived! Going to pick it up tomorrow morning in prep for a glom =)
