impySooooo... at some point last week (week before? December 1), AG released a couple of new things. They added two outfits to the Travel Set and unleashed a new Mix and Match set on the world. Beyond the absolute obvious reason why I wasn't on top of this when it happened, you'll see why I've been dragging my feet on blathering on about the MnM sets.
We begin with our travel series.
World Traveler in Peru // $36

From climbing Machu Picchu to strolling museums in Lima, Peru offers beautiful coasts and fascinating cultural sites. This set includes:
A turquoise dress with flounce sleeves, floral embroidery at the bodice, ribbons on the hem, and a tasseled tie closure at the neckline
A felt hat with ribbon trim on the band and two pom-poms on the side
A pair of black ankle boots with a pink pom-pom at the side
A pair of multicolored striped socks
I... actually really like this. I was meh on it when I first saw it, both as a grey market offering and then when it was released, but it's so colorful and cheerful and maybe I just need something happy. It's cute and while the felt had makes my fingers recoil at the thought (I hate felt, always have, always will), I love this set. I love it so much that I even love the doll and I think my feelings on the classic mold are well known at this point.

LLAMA. Ahem. This is cute. It's not my favorite set but I've literally only bought one of the souvenir sets and I like them well enough. This one has a food item that makes me crave actual food so that's several steps in the right direction for AG food. Is a purse and a plate with one piece of dessert worth $18? I mean, no, but I'd scoop this up on sale. It does seem to complete the look and I'm a sucker for postcards.

A blue knit tee with cap sleeves
A pair of wide-leg pants with a print inspired by Moroccan tiles and architecture
A pair of gold strappy sandals with gemstones at the centers
A knit print headscarf that ties that flow down her back
A flowy, lightweight woven scarf with a floral print to wear around her neck
A coral belt with a gold buckle at the front
Dude, I love that tee. This is probably the Traveler outfit most worth the money based on everything you get. I'm not sure I'll wind up with it simply because I've cut waaaaaaaaaaaay back on my AG spending but I love that this is very different for AG. Must admit I'd be way more inclined to buy it if that yellow scarf isn't the velcro kind.

This accessory set is perfect for exploring the northern coast of Africa where the blue of the Mediterranean Sea is echoed in intricate tilework. It includes:
A blue purse with gold embroidery on the front flap—the shape of the purse was inspired by Moroccan architecture
Traditional almond pastry called almond briouat that is made with almonds and honey and topped with sesame seeds—it comes on a plate the doll can hold
A set of three Moroccan postcards
A sheet of travel stickers—girls can follow the instructions to craft a pretend doll passport!
Once more the food looks delish and that bag is fantastic.

These two tops are purrfect for pairing with joggers or shorts. The black tank has a silver glitter cat face graphic and bows at the shoulder straps, and the blue rib-knit crop top has a lettuce edge in contrasting neon thread, plus a neon cat face embroidered on the chest. Part of the AG Fashion Show® Pawsitively Purrfect Collection.
I have a similar shirt to the black one (the font/cat, but not the style) and we can all pretend I'm above buying this but we also all know I am not. So yes, when I decided to indulge in the smallest bit of retail therapy at the last second of an AG sale, I threw this into the cart. Do I have anything these will go with? Likely no, but we'll ignore that bridge when we come to it. Maybe the pleather pants? *muse*
Also, the tank top reminds me of the Pullip days when some shop got really, really popular, had a sale, and then promptly ghosted everyone. Not sure how many orders were actually filled before they noped out of the scene but yeah, never did get my order. :p

I'm torn on this. On the one hand, this looks comfy, and yes, I'm one of those who thinks about doll clothes being comfy. On the other hand, I'm not sure drawstrings on kids clothing is a great look/idea. But these are dolls so... eh. I think they style this one horribly.

Probably the most versatile pieces in the whole collection. Self, if you're looking at this in the future trying to figure out what else you'd planned on buying, you might as well snag this so you can pair the leggings with the blue shirt even though this is the ONE combo they don't show. Yeah, no, this isn't $16 worth of want. I don't dig how they've styled these for the most part but I can think of ways to do so that would make me happy so I'd buy this on sale and then promptly never have them pair up again. :P
Overall, I didn't love the new mix and match but upon closer inspection find that I am actually more fond of the Traveler sets than I thought. Who knew? I do hope, for AG's sake, that both do well.
In case you were just dying of curiosity about my little bit of retail therapy, I snagged the aforementioned kitty shirt set, the holiday mix and match outfit (the blush sweater/skirt), and most of Courtney's new mix and match pieces. Most would be her tank top set, her pink crop top, white jacket, mini skirts, and shorts. I think I also threw in one of the food blind bag packs for my stocking if they get here in time.
