Ugh, waiting

Trying to set up the freebie vet appointment for Adora (we're trying that one today. We toggled back and forth on Saturday with it and she seemed cool and then Sun/Mon she was uninterested) and it's involving a lot of waiting and I am not patient. I want it over with, dammit. I tried calling yesterday because the site said they were open but holiday made me think someone just didn't update before leaving over the weekend. They didn't call back (I left a message) so this morning I called again after giving them a few hours to work through yesterday's messages. Talked for a couple of minutes and then had to send over her records and now I await a callback.

Not looking forward to trying to take her in whenever that will be since I'd prefer to go early and Mom would prefer after rush hour (which makes sense, it's just I want teleportation to be a thing, dammit) annnnnnnnnnd basically I'm a little stressed because it's the last day of my vacation.

And it doesn't feel like a vacation at all. I didn't make it to the pool once, I didn't really do... anything aside from drown in mental health issues and clean my room. Well, and a crapton of laundry since Adora was not treated for worms and the night we brought her home I saw one so... laundry, bitches. So many blankets. SO MANY. ;_; Self, why do you keep so many blankets on your bed?


In other news, I went on a book requesting spree on GR and continue my streak of not winning. Woo?

I've won one book on GR and gave it a scathing review, so I basically expect to never win again. I finally received an e-book I won on LT a month after the fact. I'd given up on it, so that was a rather pleasant surprise to find in my email box over the weekend.

I feel you on feeling like you've lost your vacation. I took today off because dentist appointment so I had a 4 day weekend and I feel like I spent most of it asleep. Yes, I caught up on some things, but I didn't really do anything "new" or "fun" and after falling asleep for the fourth day in a row this afternoon after painting my nails, I am starting to wonder about my work schedule?? Because WTF.

Glad your ambulance ride hasn't amounted to more issues. Hope you don't have to pay that $4K bill!!

Good luck getting into the vet soon! I waited a month to take Mr. B, but that's basically because he'd only just been to the vet when I first adopted him, and he'd had all his shots and the snip, too.

Yay for the LT book showing up. Boo for GR holding grudges. I'd wonder if maybe it's because I don't tend to review as regularly but you do and if you do and can't get 'em, it's definitely grudge city over there. Woe.

Madam, your work schedule sounds insane. I can understand brief (and I'm willing to go for a couple of months as 'brief') stretches where big things require more time/effort, but I'm fairly certain one shouldn't basically crash as soon as you come home. I admit I don't have room to talk. But you deserve down time!

Sadness at feeling like I just... didn't do anything at all. It didn't feel like a vacation or even really time off from work somehow. Which I suspect means I've burnt out far more than I realized, and I was pretty sure I was fried so that's... something.

Gotta fill out my paperwork to say "dear hospital: I am poor. Please forgive my debts." I am annoyed that despite processing things around the 10th with my insurance the actual BIG bill hasn't shown up yet. Yesterday one of the smaller ones did and previously the EMS bill (ouch) did but not the actual whopper.

In order to get the Animal Society to pay for the visit, one must do so within a certain time frame. Luckily they did call back and so kitty has to brave the car Monday.

Yeah, I can completely believe that GR holds grudges if you don't gush about their ARCs. It's kinda like NetGalley - the only people who can get ARCs are the ones with large followings, and those tend to be the five star whores. Which is a shame, but oh well. I'm glad I'm not on the ARC merry go round. I barely find time to read books I want to read, much less ones I'm obligated to read!! (This is why I like paperbacks, BTW - I'm stuck reading the LT book on my regular computer which I am not likely to get on to read for hours at a time.)

LT plays much more fair, I find: you don't have to give gushing reviews to get books there. Only problem is that their selection is pretty poor, especially these days when its harder to weed out the self-published tripe, ugh.

My job is mentally tiring. I don't do anything especially difficult or specialized, it's just a lot of pushing paper and reading emails and dealing with temperamental jerks. So its hard to want to do anything when I get home, other than completely veg out.

I never feel like I accomplish much on my vacations. I'm glad I can catch up on my sleep, but there are so many other things I could be doing, other than sleeping during the day!

Good luck to your new kitty companion and the car ride. My carriers are pretty huge and B has room enough to turn around in his, but he still doesn't like the car :-/ He's not as bad as some of the cats we've had, but it just breaks your heart to hear that scared little mew!
