AG update of the day

impyI've been slacking in my AG udates, huh? To be honest, the whole being broke and also in a funk has made it hard to care too much. It also doesn't help that I'm not going to talk about the HP stuff and right now, in general, AG fandom seems super dead.
But today we have a surprise drop so I thought we'd go through it together and talk about the Wicked drop from... last week? The week before? It's one I actually like, even if the Wicked fandom was ruined for me well before I knew it was a thing by one exceptionally annoying stan. I was gonna say fan, but I think we can all agree there's a point when a fan crosses a line and enters Standom, and I do mean that in all the worst possible ways.
ANYWAY. Let's begin.

Or didn't, anyway. *shrug* That being said, the price on this hurts my soul because I want it so much. Those boots! The cape! The hat! The dress! Basically, if this goes on sale or I have a reward to use, it'll be mine because I do love me some rainbow witch vibes.

I love the colors used here, but I don't love this one. It looks very...costumey, but in a Halloween store way, where Elphie's looks theater costume-y, if that makes sense. But against my will, I've also seen a bunch of Glinda costumes that make this look absolutely like the height of couture so it is what it is. If I get it, it'll be to complete the set. I don't hate it but it's also not $79 worth of swoon to me.
Now, onto the surprise collab. I've never heard of Something Navy but I haven't heard of half their collabs so clearly I'm not rich enough for this.

Torn on this. I think the waist is too high and it's making it look too young for the 18inch dolls. It looks more Wellie or even BB aged, though I'm not sure I'd be as quick to notice if they hadn't gone and given the dolls painted eyelashes which do seem to age them up a bit. It's a simple dress otherwise and I like it well enough, but it's absolutely a dress I see and think "better doll than kid." I was a Miss Priss for the ages this would've been worn and even I would've made a mess of it.

You say "must have" but I say otherwise. The purse looks cheap and I've never had good luck getting those bows on pony-os to work out properly. I get why it's done, as trying to tie sequins would be a bad idea but still.

Having Jem adjacent flashbacks for the name. It's not quite right but close enough to get a song stuck in my head. Otherwise, they're AG gold sandals. Assuming they're not the rough glitter kind, I'll probably try and snag them.

That is a lot of pink. o_O I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's not awful, it's just a LOT of pink. I'm getting Stacey vibes though. I do like it over the Blooms of Blue dress, so there's that.
The Bitty version looks pretty close to the regular version aside from the bow.
They did not even try with the curly haired doll in that shot, did they? Oof.
Overall, this is one of those collections I liked more before I really looked at it. I really do wish that they'd taken a page out of the styling for the girl's outfits, because that shows the dress paired with stompy navy blue boots with pink laces and YES. That's what this set needed. As it is, I think I prefer the girl versions to the doll versions, but it's a bit different and I can see it being a hit. It's also very much giving me Grace vibes, and Grace did really well for AG so you do what you need to do, AG.
I'm still missing the May release with the swim stuff and the doll sized water friendly Bittys but I'm in need of not being right here, right now so that'll continue to wait.
