Surprise AG drop this morning? It's the Berry preorder for the trio of collector's dolls and like predicted, it's Disney Princesses. We've got Belle, Jasmine, and Rapunzel. I was pretty sure Punzie was gonna be our blonde and since my toss-up for non-blond/white character (someone gave hints) was between Ariel and Belle, I was leaning towards Belle since going with Ariel might rock the boat.

  I have no strong feelings towards this version of Belle. Honestly, my love of animated Belle doesn't extend to the princess-ification of her, which means this dress holds no real sway for me. I think it's done well enough (obviously this comes from a casual Disney fan, so the more hardcore might think otherwise) but I'm not swooning. Like it's a well done doll and outfit and those shoes are an abomination. I'm also not sure why she has hazel eyes beyond AG will twist themselves into pretzels to avoid a brown eyed brunette whenever they can. If you need help with mold ID: Josefina.

  I will always have an enormous soft spot for the Sonali mold but if I'm being honest, slap on some gold eyeliner stickers on Sonali and you've pretty much got Jasmine here anyway. I do actually really love her outfit, but this is also one of my favorite colors soooooooo... biased all the way around here, honestly. My one quibble is they didn't give her quite enough hair. Yes, Jasmine's animated and all, but she's got hair for days, dammit.

   Punzie here is probably my favorite but I also love me a good Punzie doll so again, biased. Thing is, I'd be just as happy with a grey eyed, freckled blond MG mold. For Jasmine, I like the whole look. For Belle I'm underwhelmed, but for Punzie I just want the damn doll. I think her dress is lovely but it seems oddly short, though maybe it's because when I think of this version of Rapunzel she's barefoot? And in need of a cast iron frying pan, honestly.


But I'm not spending $300 on any of these. I hope. I might be slightly tempted by Punzie if not for the fact that Claudie's new stuff is available in stores and should be online soon and um, I needs it:

But yes, they did apparently just re-release the skelly outfit and turn the witch outfit pink. Bat costume made it through the survey, as did candy corn outfit. Birthstone outfits are frickin $52 each though.

Ha, I'm the opposite on Jasmine. Even if I was tempted, Sonali's mold ruins her. One of my favorite aspects of Jasmine is her gorgeous nose. It's not wide and flat. It's long and narrow and a bit aquiline. Not that AG would have an aquiline nose, but long and narrow could have been accomplished with Josefina or Marie-Grace.

I want to look at the birthstone outfits, but my brain is too tired. Maybe later. I see that September's is a mess, so at least that's an easy pass.

I wonder if they didn't use MG for Jasmine since they've got Kavi? But Kavi doesn't have princess hair and the Belle doll isn't terribly different from other Josefina/hazel dolls beyond the wig and outfit so maybe not.

I'm reserving my thought energy for the birthstones until after they hit online and I can see them better. I can't see September's without hearing someone's "Mama Mia, huh?" commentary on it.

Why am I not surprised that Rapunzel is the best looking one of the lot? I mean, it's not like AG has a thing for classic blond girls or anything /sarcasm

I'm definitely underwhelmed by these offerings - none of them come close to matching the characters, Disney has their own line of dolls that isn't this damn expensive, and yeah. $300? That's a big No Thank You from me. Even for Rapunzel, who I am a sucker for (like you).

Gasp! But they went the MG mold on Punzie so she's totally different from all their classic blonds! :p But not terribly different from the not!Taylor Swift doll they put out last year, if you just straightened her curls.

I tell you though, had they thought to give me a bedazzled iron skillet, we would be having a conversation about how I need to learn to make better decisions with my money. :P

I do love her necklace so, so much. I just don't get the Swarovski buzz and never have?
