AG: September Release, the first
Sep. 18th, 2023 07:25 amUgh. Let's try this again. We're gonna start with the twins new stuff because it's easier than trying to navigate a stomach lurching IG reel from hell for now.

Nostalgia Bomb, Baby.

Nicki's Red Vinyl Jumper Outfit // $42
Item#HPN46
Nicki channels her love of list-making to organize a giant Y2K party with her twin sister, Isabel. This party look is just Nicki’s style and is inspired by a real American Girl Today™ doll outfit sold in the 1990s.
Includes:
A black long-sleeved turtleneck
A red vinyl jumper with angled front zipper pocket details
Multicolored argyle knit tights
Black lace-up boots
Two red plaid scrunchies
If you're not as well versed in AG lore, this is a release of the third Meet outfit for the GOT line. Pretty sure Cass has this as I think it's what Destiny wore to Atlanta when she went in for new eyes. Anyway, it's known far and wide for the vinyl cracking to bits by now. Not sure, but the boots might also fall apart too, due to age. (Yes. They do. They're the same as the grey school jumper outfit and those definitely fell apart.) I'm torn. I've never loved this outfit enough to track it down, though it's by no means my least favorite. I love bits of it. I'm a sucker for a black turtleneck (is it possible to get through remembering the 90's and NOT have at least a soft spot for them?), I think the tights are cute as fuck, and I also love the boots. I like the addition of the scrunchies. But I think this looks like ass on Nicki as is. :/ Maybe I'm being too critical? But it's $42 so... I'm skipping for now, but happy for those who wanted this in not-falling-apart condition.

Isabel's Year 2000 Outfit // $42
Item#HPN45
Isabel is determined to celebrate an amazing New Year’s Eve party she plans with her twin sister Nicki. Her outfit for the occasion is as sparkly as her personality and shimmers just like the one sold by American Girl® in 1999.
Includes:
A purple sparkle knit tank top with lavender contrast trim
A matching purple sparkle knit cardigan with lavender contrast trim and front tie
A shimmery purple satin A-line skirt
Four pink and purple butterfly hair clips
Multicolored sparkle-knit tights
Purple satin platform shoes with crisscross ankle straps
Based on the Year 2000/Millennium Outfit. Trying to figure out if the skirt is actually satin-y and just is coming across dull in AG's photos or what. I don't think Cass or I ever got this one, though I do have a soft spot for it. I like the inclusion of the butterfly clips and I do like it on Isabel, though the eyebrows on these dolls is killing me. Isabel the doll definitely wants to wear you like a skinsuit, k?

Isabel and Nick's New Year's Party Accessories // $32
Item#HPN49
Isabel and Nicki can’t wait to ring in the year 2000 at their big party at their dad’s coffee shop with these must-have accessories for the new millennium.
Includes:
A pair of glittery silver and gold party top hats with "Happy New Year” written on the front
A pair of glittery silver and gold party glasses shaped as the number 2000 with tinted lenses
A pretend pink disposable camera that Isabel and Nicki can hold and a set of photos the twins captured of one another
A pair of pink and purple glow bracelets that can connect around Isabel and Nicki’s wrists
A pair of pretend chocolate cupcakes topped with vanilla frosting and a countdown decoration
This is very much a case of I get why the set exists, I hope it does well for the company, but I have less than no interest in it. Negative interest? Maybe. It's weird because normally the faux camera and the pictures would absolutely suck me in (and I'm glad AG made it so the dolls can hold the camera) but the pictures are meant to be candids and absolutely aren't anywhere close to that. I like it better when AG/Mattel does that little extra of taking another picture I can't necessarily get elsewhere and including it. Not the case here. Eh. This absolutely sets the scene, but it also feels VERY much like what someone from today would think the Year 2000 party accessories would be, if that makes sense. I'm not saying it's inaccurate because I did not attend a Y2K party as such, so I would not know.

Isabel and Nicki's Sleepover Party Kit // $36
Item#HPW16
Sisters Isabel and Nicki always have a built-in slumber party buddy. On Christmas Eve, the twins make their living room sleepover extra fun with classic ’90s slumber party items.
Includes:
A black duffel-style tote bag with blue handles and the 1990s American Girl® multicolored logo on the front
A mini The Care and Keeping of You book
A folding hairbrush, a travel toothbrush that dolls can hold, and a mini purple faux flashlight
A black claw hair clip with an allover smiley-face print
A faux bottle of blue nail polish and a faux nail file
I will always have a very special place in my heart for this particular AG logo. It gives me Pippi vibes and also is just stuck in my mind forever. Ditto for the color scheme that AG then used for their accessory sets like this. I do wonder why they didn't go with the doll nail polish that they've used in other sets? Had they done so, umm... I'd have bought it. What? Doll sleepover kit plus doll nail polish? Obviously I would. But they didn't so maybe if it goes on sale at some point.

Isabel and Nicki's Movie Night Set // $36
Item#
Watching a movie at home is one of the twins’ favorite ways to spend time together…once they agree on which movie to rent!
Includes:
A pretend popcorn popper with a removable lid, a measuring cup, and a clump of popcorn kernels
A pink bowl that fits under the popcorn maker and is filled with faux popcorn
Popcorn toppings and snacks: a gold saltshaker, a bottle of butter, two pieces of strawberry and grape taffy, and two “Cola” cups with built-in straws
A faux VHS tape in a case featuring the made-up movie American Girl® Canine Academy and a video rental membership card to "Movie Star Video"
I've seen a LOT of people say they're getting this for Courtney/that it was possibly hers but shifted to the twins due to them being the new hotness. I think the color scheme is more Courtney, but as for actual decades, probably more twins. I associate Blockbuster (and let's be real, this is AG's version of Blockbuster) more with the 90's, but I fully admit that it could be due to my age range. But that membership card had better not have a name on it, or if it does, it better be for the parents because Blockbuster did not fuck around with who they let have memberships for quite awhile. It's part of why my family was never a Blockbuster family- my parents didn't want to jump through the extra hoops they required AND their clerks were assholes at the time. Ah, memories. Also Pic a Flick pretty much supplied all my movie posters so.
Neither here nor there though. I think this is probably my favorite of the accessory sets, but I hate that the VHS isn't set at the start. Rewind that shit, girls! Also, how did AG manage to make popcorn look bad?
I will say that I get why they couldn't/didn't make it so the popper made noise/pretended to work, but man, pouring kernels in would've been so satisfying.

AG Girl of Today Tee // $12
Item#HPW17
Time for a rewind! This classic AG® tee is just like the ones found in the American Girl® catalogue when Isabel and Nicki were growing up in the ’90s.
Includes:
A black cotton tee featuring the authentic 1990s American Girl Today™ logo
AG, you're taking the "just like" thing a bit far, given that the original was a long sleeved PJ top. That said, I prefer it as a tee and I'm mentally adding it to an order very soon. You can get this for kids or adults, but only in S/M/L. Boo, AG. Boo.
Now, if you just can't wait for the next part of the release, the holiday stuff, let's check IG and try not to get sick because AG's sending influencers who clearly give zero fucks and we get reels from hell. Also, because I love you, I swiped some better (questionable in some cases) pics of some stuff. But not the most intriguing, sadly.
Egads, watching this video, even slowed the fuck down, made me dizzy as fuck. Say fuck one more time, self. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
Anyway. Let's look at some blurry screengrabs, shall we?

Looks like new mix n match stuff in AG's regulation pink, silver, and white for the holidays?
The new Trolls collab is... a thing. I do like the glittery dress, which may or not have anything to do with the collab.

Not sure if the trunk is new or just being used to display stuff for the twins. People are flipping out over the idea of it being new though, so here you go.

New PJs and holiday outfits.
Don't squint too hard though, loves.

Apparently NYC's store has this out for sale already. Woo? I actually like the dress for this year, and I think I'll grab the boy version too since I so enjoyed last year's. I'm not sold on the PJs because they're not my style.

Holiday sweaters. Look, green! Wish the trim wasn't pink though. Don't love the Hanukkah one this year, sadly.

Advent calendar. I think it's cute and unlike last year's paper fuckery, this one has the dolls on a cute date on the back of the box. What, like I'm the only one who thought that. (I might be. It's fine.)
Leaving this outside the cut because it's obviously the biggest thing and I don't want you thinking we've got clear pics yet.

The finale (?) LE for the year. I. Am. In. Love. Possibly. Could be. Depends on the mold and the price, and how I truly feel once clear photos appear. But um... yeah, I might be in trouble. She's somehow giving Grecian goddess and Elven vibes, and if you took a shot someone mentioned Daenerys from GOT, you'd die in record time.

Nostalgia Bomb, Baby.
