We're gonna try something new. If all goes well, you won't even notice we did. If not, lemme know if things are borked, k?

AG's shifting into high gear for the holidays. You might recall we've had four previous Limited Edition dolls released this summer and now it's time for the traditional Holiday LE doll.

For me, she blows the others out of the water. Well. Maybe not Rapunzel but I will always have a soft spot for Punzie and freckles and I'm getting sidetracked.

Behold, our winter goddess:

SWOON. I am trying very, very hard to be pickier about which AG dolls I pick up because they're not small and space is limited, but holy fuck she's pretty. Also, we've previously discussed that my favorite AG items land squarely in the "WTF?" category at times and from AG, I'd consider an elf/GOT/goddess mashup to be very much a WTF in the best possible way. I don't really foresee AG releasing a lot of white haired dolls in the future so that'll stand out. I love the gray eyes being used again, and I think the glitter eyeliner works really well here. I love the outfit and how flowy it is. That headpiece is stunning and I basically just love her.
Do I have quibbles? Sure. Her glittery lips for one. But I also absolutely took advantage of the 3X the points offer today and ordered her, even if I couldn't pay my prefered way. Boo, Paypal. Boo. (Or maybe it was boo Mattel? I dunno.)

She does have a smaller run than last year's LE doll but that makes sense given that she is the fifth LE doll released in the last couple of months and she's not likely to appeal to quite so many people in general. Without the fun colors of last year's Sapphire Splendor doll, she might also skew to an older crowd and not have the little kid push. Doesn't matter. Love her.

Holiday Wishlist PJs // $26
Item#HPV66
She’ll dream of holiday cheer in these PJs that are made to match the Holiday Wish List PJs for Girls.
Includes:
A red, long-sleeved cotton PJ top featuring a holiday wish list graphic
A pair of white cotton-knit PJ leggings with ornament and gift graphics, a ribbon bow at the waist, and red rib-knit cuffs
A pair of red plush slippers with white pom-poms at the toes

Please note: Dolls sold separately.
American Girl® will accept returns and exchanges on any of the Holiday Wish List PJs for 30 days after purchase. After 30 days, all sales are final. No returns, refunds, or exchanges.

I'm including the fine print here because I think it's interesting to see how they're trying to fend off the sea of returns resellers tend to overburden them with when things don't go to plan. Also, I don't have much to say about these. I don't hate them but I don't really like them much. The pants would make cute wrapping paper and the shirt is fine but I don't like them together and I fucking HATE the giant pom-poms on AG shoes.

AG x Something Navy Crimson Sparkle Sweater Dress // $40
Item#HRL75
Monochromatic and made for holiday-party season, this dress was designed in collaboration with Something Navy. Create matching moments with the Crimson Sparkle Sweater Dress for Girls.

Includes:
A crimson cable-knit sweater dress with red metallic yarn and a poufy tulle skirt with taffeta lining
A matching taffeta-covered headband with a sparkly ribbon bow
A glittery red purse with a shoulder strap, a pair of black patent booties, and a pair of ribbed red socks

Please note: Dolls sold separately.
Cannot be shipped outside the US and Canada.
American Girl® will accept returns and exchanges on any item within the Something Navy Collection for 30 days after purchase. After 30 days, all sales are final. No returns, refunds, or exchanges.

Okay, I think this is cute as hell. It's also overpriced but that's AG's thing. I don't really love the socks/booties (ugh, that word when not describing baby footwear) combo but I do wonder if you can pull the socks up or if that'll look weird. Actually, the boots themselves look a little off with this, but I'm not sure why. I don't mind boots/dresses in general. If you can figure it out, lemme know. In the meantime, this is on my probably list.

Christmas Party Sweater // $30
Item#HPX01
Breeze through holiday-party season with this go-to sweet sweater and accessories.

Includes:
A green sweater with pink contrast trim, white polka dots, and a graphic featuring a gingerbread person with a broken leg and text that reads "OH SNAP"
An invitation to a silly sweater party
A star-shaped sugar cookie, a Christmas ornament-shaped sugar cookie, a mug of cocoa with a snowflake graphic, and a pink plate with silver details
A matching doll- and girl-sized headband with translucent Christmas light bulbs

Ohhhhhhhh. The price is because they insisted on including a headband for the kids too. I'd like to say this makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside but no. Even as a little kid, at my absolute skinniest/smallest/least hair that eats things for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between I couldn't tolerate headbands. I'm getting a headache just thinking about it. Ugh.
I don't hate the actual sweater and I'm glad it's green. The green and pink combo will always make me think of Sailor Jupiter so that probably helps. I like the little extras aside from the headbands, but I cannot with them showing this headband on not!Taylor Swift, she of the crunch curls. I can't. I guess to show the headband isn't gonna fuck up their hair? Eh. Would buy on sale, wouldn't be my first choice of this year's offerings.

In the Hanukkah Spirit Sweater // $30
Item#HPX02
A silly sweater is a holiday season must-have for parties that require extra-festive flair.
Includes:
A light-blue sweater with contrasting navy striped sleeves, navy contrast trim, and a graphic featuring a smiling latke in a pan and text that reads "LOVE YOU A LATKE"
An invitation to a silly sweater party
A sugar cookie shaped like the Star of David, a dreidel-shaped sugar cookie, a blue mug of cocoa with a snowflake graphic, and a blue plate with silver details
A matching doll- and girl-sized menorah headband

How do you make a doll look uncomfortable? It's a skill is how. Again, don't love the headbands. The sweater is cute, though I loved the llama from last year. I need more stripey sleeve doll sweaters. Someone get on that, would you?

Pop of Plaid Holiday Outfit // $40
Item#HRL87
Full of dapper details, this look adds a festive pop to any holiday gathering.
Includes:
A white button-front long-sleeved shirt with a collar and faux cuffs
A pair of black cotton twill trousers
A dark-red taffeta vest with dot-print detailing and a dark-red taffeta bow tie
A red plaid scarf with a fringed hem
A pair of black dress shoes with cord laces and a pair of black knit socks

Two things I need to get out of my head: 1) I keep reading that as pLop of plaid which is not great and 2) I keep seeing this doll sliding in like a boyband member sliding into formation during a performance.
I like this one. I really loved last year's after I got it and assuming this year's doesn't come with warnings about it being too small (like the tux a couple of years ago), I'll try to snag it with or without a sale.

AGxSomething Navy Rosy Radiance Puff Sleeve Dress // $16
Item#HRL86
She’ll bring a rosy glow everywhere she goes this holiday season in this stunning, sparkly dress. Designed in collaboration with Something Navy, this dress is made to match the Rosy Radiance Puff-Sleeve Dress for Girls. Pair with other pieces in the American Girl® x Something Navy Collection for more mix-and-match looks.

Includes:
A rosy-pink sparkle knit dress with a ruffled neckline, puff sleeves, and a cased elastic waistband with a center satin bow
An American Girl® x Something Navy hanger

Thanks, I hate it. I know that dolls can't feel things but this just looks like it'll be scratchy as fuck (even as I do enjoy the sparkle), and I loathe ruffled necklines like this. Thing is, I can see this being something I go from hate to hate to love very easily if I'm not careful. But I do ultimately think it'll stay on the No, Thank You side of things. *is now itchy*

AGxSomething Navy Ruffles and Sparkles Sweater // $16
Item#HRL83
Neutral, but make it glam. This stunning sweater—designed in collaboration with Something Navy—effortlessly pairs with the other pieces in the American Girl® x Something Navy Collection.

Includes:
A cream-colored metallic knit pointelle sweater with a double ruffle shoulder detail
An American Girl® x Something Navy hanger

And this I LOVE. I have an absurd love affair with sweaters, probably due to the fact that I live in Satan's armpit and never really have a chance to wear them since I also run hot and have since, oh, forever. But this is giving me Hallmark movie marathon vibes in a good way. My only real issue is that it looks too thin to put over a shirt or possibly even a cami. Hrmm.

AGxSomething Navy Flowy And Festive Wide Leg Pants // $14
Item#HRL81
As her holiday calendar fills up with fun, she’ll go with the flow in these dreamy pastel pants designed in collaboration with Something Navy. Mix and match with other pieces in the American Girl® x Something Navy Collection.
Includes:
A pair of flowy satin blush-pink pants with a scattered glitter print down the front of the legs
An American Girl® x Something Navy hanger

This is an usual one. Just looking at the pants, I think to myself "hmm, maybe?" and then I see them on a doll and think "swing and a miss!" I do wonder if I'll like them more paired with the sweater?

Not sure about the sweater, but it does pair nicely with the sequin top:

AGxSomething Navy Topped With a Bow Puffer Coat // $20
Item#HRL77
Just like a ribbon atop a package, this chic coat—designed in collaboration with Something Navy—gives every winter look the perfect finishing touch. Mix and match with other pieces in the American Girl® x Something Navy Collection.

Includes:
A velvet pale-pink puffer-style zip-up jacket with iridescent sequins, taffeta lining, and a statement bow at the neckline
An American Girl® x Something Navy hanger

I really do not like this with the pants.... but I don't hate it. I love the iridescent sequins and I even kinda like the bow, as it reminds me of watching various shows with Mums when I was little and they'd have ridiculous bows at the neck and while it was never gonna be a style I'd want to wear, it's a nostalgic vibe.

AGxSomething Navy Frosty Faux Fur Shrug // $16
Item#HRL79
This luxe layer is designed in collaboration with Something Navy and a must for any seasonal style. Made to match the Frosty Faux-Fur Shrug for Girls, it also pairs with other pieces in the American Girl® x Something Navy Collection for more mix-and-match looks.

Includes:
A winter-white faux-fur shrug with sweater-knit sleeves and a taffeta-lined bodice
An American Girl® x Something Navy hanger

The girl sized version of this gives the kid odd shoulders and very, very skinny arms. It also, apparently, does the same thing for dolls. I wonder if that means it's a beast to put on them if you're trying to put it on over anything with sleeves? I do really like it with the sequin pieces. Hrmm.

AGxSomething Navy Holiday Halter Top // $10
Item#HRL80
She’ll be seasonally chic in this sequined top designed in collaboration with Something Navy and made to match the Holiday Halter Top for Girls. Pair with other pieces in the American Girl® x Something Navy Collection for more mix-and-match looks.
Includes:
A blush-pink sequined halter top with taffeta lining
An American Girl® x Something Navy hanger

Ah, yes, nothing says holiday more than "halter top", right? :P And yes, I get that's rich coming from someone who in this very post complained about living somewhere where it's too fucking hot to wear sweaters but y'know, I mock because I care? I dunno. I like it with the skirt and shrug, and it's giving me less messy Lohan vibes so...yeah, I'm already plotting to buy it.

AGxSomething Navy Holiday Sequin Skirt // $12
Item#HRL78
‘Tis the season to be sequined! Add some sparkle with this skirt designed in collaboration with Something Navy and made to match the Holiday Sequin Skirt for Girls. Pair with other pieces in the American Girl® x Something Navy Collection for more mix-and-match looks.

Includes:
A blush-pink sequined mesh skater-style skirt with taffeta lining and a silver elastic waistband
An American Girl® x Something Navy hanger

  See above re: Lohan.

AGxSomething Navy Tis the Sequin Accessory Set // $18
Item#HRL82
Every holiday look deserves some extra sparkle. These shimmery and chic accessories were designed in collaboration with Something Navy and are the perfect complements to the pieces in the American Girl® x Something Navy Collection.

Includes:
A sequined blush-pink beret with taffeta lining
A glittery silver envelope-style wristlet
A silver dome ring with iridescent pink glitter

I want that ring. Why? My dolls never wear the rings but this one I want. I also think this might be the one beret I can get a doll to wear and not have it look ridiculous, simply because it looks extra slouchy. Or maybe sequins, like glitter, hide a multitude of sins?

AGxSomething Navy Twinkling Tinsel Ballet Flats // $10
Item#HRL84
Deck the halls—and her toes—with these festive flats designed in collaboration with Something Navy. Mix and match with other pieces in the American Girl® x Something Navy Collection.

Includes:
A pair of glittery silver ballet-flat shoes with pointed toes and crisscross silver metallic straps

Are these the scratchy glitter or the kind encased in plastic? I think it's the scratchy kind. Hrmm. I don't love that but I don't hate these. Definitely not to be used with tights that could snag though.

image host image host
AGxSomething Navy Frosty Faux Fur Trimmed Booties // $12
Item#HRL85
Add a winter wow to any look with these festive booties designed in collaboration with Something Navy. Mix and match with other pieces in the American Girl® x Something Navy Collection.

Includes:
A pair of pearlescent fashion boots with faux-fur cuffs, side buckle details, and gray soles

I need another pair of white/cream AG boot/booties like I need a hole in the head but these do seem to go quite well with a good chunk of this collection.

image host image host
Basically, for this mix and match section, I'd buy the bundle if there was any savings but since there's not, I'd probably go for everything but the dress. I really do wish they'd shown the sweater and pants together. I NEED TO KNOW. And maybe the puffer coat over the dress? Hrmm.

Advent Calendar // $50
Item#HNT33
Sweeten the season with daily surprises! She’ll love opening one of 24 doors each day to reveal doll-sized pretend holiday treats, baking accessories, and more.

Includes:
Festive faux cookies: a star-shaped sugar cookie, a green ornament-shaped cookie, two gingerbread cookies, a reindeer-shaped cookie, a Christmas tree-shaped cookie, a snowman-shaped cookie, and a set of sugar cookies with red and green candy pieces
Baking necessities: a set of star and ornament cookie cutters, two gingerbread cookie cutters, a piping bag to “frost” the cookies, a striped rolling pin with gingerbread dough, and a pair of containers of purple and pink sprinkles
Pretend sweet treats: a pair of green-and-pink striped candy canes, a gold box of candy canes, a purple lollipop that dolls can hold, and a white chocolate nutcracker
Seasonal sips: a pink cup of cocoa with a snowflake graphic and a snowman marshmallow, a blue cup of cocoa with a snowflake graphic, a blue cup of punch, a glass of milk with a snowflake graphic, and a purple teacup with a snowflake graphic plus a purple saucer
Dishware and decor: a plate with a snowman graphic, a blue tray with a snowflake graphic, and a glittery snow globe with a tree inside and a golden base

Kinda surprised they just put it all out there on the front there. How is that a surprise, AG? I guess the surprise is which day you'll get your favorite shiny? That aside, I think this is probably the best one they've done. Miles ahead of last year's book of failure and if you don't have these pieces already, this isn't a bad way to go about getting them.

AG Coffee Shop Breakfast Set // $26
Item#HRB30
Add some yum to the morning rush with this take-out breakfast for two. This set makes a sweet complement to the American Girl® Coffee Shop (sold separately).

Includes:
Bakery goodies: a frosted cinnamon roll, a bagel filled with cream cheese, and a single-serve container of cream cheese on the side
Fresh drinks that dolls can hold: a strawberry frappe topped with whipped cream and a green juice with a lid and attached faux straw
A drink caddy that can hold the entire order
A faux gift card for the American Girl® Coffee Shop

I was gonna say this is a little random, but with AG's fixation on the dolls working at various shops and breakfast being a big part of a lot of Christmas/holiday mornings, I'm gonna give it to them. Fall is also an uptick in such things so yeah, I get it.
That roll is giving me caramel vibes and dammit, now I want caramel.

Juice Bar // $80
Item#HPX00
From bananas and berries to watermelon and wheatgrass, this vibrant juice bar has all the ingredients for hours of play. Dolls can whip up fresh and flavorful creations with this set that pairs perfectly with the American Girl® Coffee Shop (sold separately).

Premium features:
A lemon-yellow faux fruit-and-vegetable juicer that makes three distinct blending and pouring sounds, holds water in its upper compartment with a lid, and dispenses cold water into cups
A set of three color-changing cups that turn a dark hue when filled with cold water and can be securely topped with three coordinating lids with faux straws attached
A table designed to match the American Girl® Coffee Shop set with a marble-look top, blue base, and lower storage shelf with printed wood-grain detail
A silver food scale with a spring-loaded tray that really works when the pretend food is placed on top

Also includes:
Faux fruits and veggies for pretend blending: a set of lemons, a set of limes, a bunch of carrots, a set of apple slices, a set of cucumbers, a container of blueberries, a set of oranges, a set of watermelon slices, and two bunches of wheatgrass in a light-blue container
A blue doll apron with the American Girl® Coffee Shop logo on the front
A blue kitchen knife to “cut” smoothie ingredients

I have no real thoughts on this. It's there. Ooh.

Winter Magic 2004 Encore // $75
Item#HPR44
Flash back to a frosty-chic fashion statement. This limited-edition* holiday look for 18-inch dolls is a re-creation of a classic American Girl® outfit that debuted nearly two decades ago.

Includes:
A black velour top with delicate sequined embroidery, beadwork on the front, and a removable faux-fur collar
A cream mesh skirt with tricot lining and a pair of cream pointelle knit tights
A cream faux-fur muff and a pair of matching faux-fur earmuffs with sequins and beading on the headband
A pair of black patent Mary Jane shoes with satin straps and rhinestones at the toes

Please note:
*No more than 5,000 outfits created worldwide.

I'd had every intention of buying this until I saw the price and went NOPE. Actually, I think I said "wtf is AG smoking?!" and then noped on out. Yes, I get that they've included some of the accessories not originally included with the outfit proper but not all of them. It's one I really do like and would have happily bought, but I think $75 for a one day sale is insane. I gather a lot of other people felt the same way because when I opened up FB the day this came back, there were multiple sales of the outfit for $25. :P It lingered for the first run and/or was big on the grey market for years, so asking $75 is a bit much. I get WHY, I just don't think it was brilliant and I do not, not for one second, believe it actually sold out. I'm not alone in this thought, btw.
Once more I am reminded how much I do not like the current classic mold's mouth.

Ballet Costume 1999 Encore // $40
Item#HPJ90
An outfit worthy of an encore! This limited-edition* prima ballerina costume for 18-inch dolls is a re-creation of the original American Girl® Ballet Costume that first hit the stage in 1999.

Includes:
A raspberry-red satin leotard with princess seams, rosettes along the neckline, and a voluminous raspberry tulle skirt with rosette details and satin ribbon trim
A pair of raspberry-red satin ballet slippers with satin ribbon straps
A ponytail wrap with three jewel-toned rosettes
A mini program for the ballet Coppélia

Please note:
*No more than 3,000 outfits created worldwide.

Someone mentioned that since these aren't necessarily identical to their previous counterparts, maybe the neckline should've been made mesh and not white girl nude. I agree. It's one of those things that once you see it, you can't unsee it, and it would've been a good way to differentiate it from the original while still being a good move. I don't have any real thoughts on this. It's pretty but not my favorite. I'm also not thinking they sold out on this one, but I do know I read quite a few comments about this one being bought because people wanted to get something from the Encore/Vault sale and this one had the far better price. Honestly, had the other one been priced even at $50, I would've believed it sold out. Anyway. Pretty colors here and now I wonder if I gave a damn about ballet, would I understand why it's always Coppélia?
