I fucking hate Dominion

I hated SCE&G. I might hate Dominion more. I truly hate that there's no option for your electricity here. You get what you get and hope that the politicians aren't in bed too deep with the company but know in your heart that they are.

We do Budget Billing because ain't nobody got extra money for painful summer bills. So I underpay in the summer months and overpay in the winter and so long as summer doesn't come too early or linger too long, our versions of spring and fall are fine inside. In theory. Last year I managed to keep such an iron grip on the thermostat that our BB for this year was cheaper than last year. I knew there'd be a fucking catch. I just didn't expect it right before the fucking holidays. Fool!

In all the time we've done it this way, we've never had them jack the price up. Ever. So imagine my surprise when I opened some mail and it was them cheerfully informing me that as of "next month" they'd be adding $55 to our remaining bills so that we wouldn't wind up owing them a metric fuckton of money at the end of our BB billing year.

Guys. Short of a catastrophe, we're going into the months where we tend to pay more than what we use. I... I can't find the words beyond screaming obscenities to work with this fuckery. There's a usage section on the site and right now, we're well below our current billing price so what. The actual.

I feel this pain deeply; AL Power is the exact same way, and also jacked up prices this year, in August no less. The rate hike was a one-time $35 hit, but still. Really, they had to do this during the hottest hell time of year?? UGH.

This is why I don't do BB myself; I'd rather pay what I owe, when I owe it, than to have this lovely "surprise" sprung on me at the last minute. I'm sorry!!

I've never had them surprise me this way with BB. The closest was the first year, eons ago, maybe when the bill came due, but even then I don't think so.
