Okay, let's try and do this. Comcast is still a useless bag of dicks but maybe I can finagle something to work properly if I try. We'll find out. If nothing else, let's have it on tap for when that moment comes.
eta: WOO. Let's do this!

Anyway. AG introduced their AG|Disney Core line with three Disney Princesses not decked out in costly crystals. Before you ask, AG is saying there's no current plan to add the original three princesses (Belle, Jasmine, and Punzie) to the new Core line but I personally see no world in which AG doesn't try for that at some later date because they said no plan currently. LOOPHOLES, BITCH. Sorry. But AG is forever saying there's no plan currently for stuff we KNOW they have plans for so I'm telling myself we'll eventually get a Punzie redux if I wait patiently. Nothing beyond hopes, prayers, and the reading of loopholes on that.

So. Tiana, Ariel, and Cinderella debuted and my opinions are still a mixed bag, honestly. I think AG did a pretty good job of covering their bases when it came to outfit options and even the people who don't love this release do seem to have a few stars in their eyes, so overall I'm giving AG a solid A for this one, but there are some... issues. We'll get there soon enough. No more stalling, we're jumping into the deep end.

AG Disney Princess Ariel // $125
Item#HWD22
Inquisitive and determined, Ariel bravely dives into new adventures on her journey to find her place in the world. Celebrate this beloved Disney Princess with this delightful doll, designed in collaboration with Disney.

Premium features:
An 18” Ariel doll with aqua-colored eyes that open and close, and signature red wavy hair styled with sideswept bangs and a pink sea-flower hair clip with a yellow rhinestone center. She has a soft cotton body, and her movable head and limbs are made of smooth vinyl.
A mermaid-style dress with a glittery purple satin bodice and an aqua skirt with an iridescent scale print and a glittery green “fin.” The dress features an iridescent organza bodice overlay, ruffled glitter-mesh sleeves, a ruffled peplum waist with purple ribbon trim, and a glitter-mesh and organza ruffled hem.
A golden-metal chain necklace with a seashell pendant

Also includes:
A pair of purple open-toe kitten heels with glittery faux seashells at the front
A pair of green cotton underwear

Ariel is the doll I was most looking forward to and thus she's my biggest disappointment. She's also why I've been dragging my feet on making this roundup because I've been trying to let my expectations fade far enough into the background to give her a fair shake. Also, I was hoping I'd find some IG pics to let me gauge how I truly felt about the doll but with my phone dying and IG's crap interface on desktop, well.

First, the good. I think AG nailed the outfit for the most part. The colors pop, it's pretty, and it's definitely Ariel. I love her necklace and her flower is very pretty. Her eyes? Swoon! I love that they went cartoon authentic red and most of the wig style is perfection.

So. Um. I still think using the Nanea mold was a mistake. I love the Nanea mold and want it used again but I don't really get Ariel from her. The boxed photo does make it more obvious why they went with the mold, as it does make her look closer to animated Ariel, but it's still a reach and a half. I'm also still not sure how I feel about the swoopy bangs. Like they're character accurate, yes, but they're also kind of... odd? But this is one of those things I was hoping owner pics would clear up for me and those haven't really been a thing yet.
Finally, my quibble from before remains: I wish AG had gone with skirt and top for this because I love the purple top and would absolutely use it as an actual top but I have no need for the mermaid tail. :p

If you're into these things, Ariel's eyes are unique to her and uh, obviously so is the hair. Skin tone is rumoured to be AG's lightest like Blaire.

Ariel Day Dress, Flounder, and Accessories // $55
Item#HWP84
Ariel wears this dress as she spends the day with Prince Eric, including her memorable boat ride with Sebastian’s sweet serenade.
Includes:
A multi-tone blue dress with a navy velvet bodice with silver embroidery, pale blue georgette sleeves and neckline, and a blue satin skirt with V-shaped waist and metallic silver embroidery at the hem
A Flounder plush
A hair tie with a georgette bow
A pair of navy flats with satin elastic binding and georgette bows

This is my favorite thing from this whole launch, btw, and I can absolutely see why it's backordered til the end of time. My order had better have gone through before the B/O hit, AG. Anyway, this has always been my favorite Ariel outfit. I didn't realize the skirt was satin when I fell in love or when I bought it, and some people are losing their shit about it because it "looks cheap" and I'm just sitting here wondering what, exactly they wanted. I love the mix of fabrics in use here and while the satin is likely to my least favorite, that's a me thing, not a dress thing. Flounder's pretty cute here and her bow is so pretty! Basically, put an AG dress in blue and you'll render me senseless I guess.

Ariel Castle Ball Gown, Sebastian, and Accessories // $55
Item#HWP83
When Ariel first begins exploring life on land, she is gifted this pink ball gown at Prince Eric’s castle.
Includes:
A pink satin dress featuring iridescent artwork on the bodice and overskirt, puff sleeves with white ribbon trim, and a shimmering white satin skirt with a pink peplum overskirt
A Sebastian figurine
A silver metal barrette with three pink rhinestones
A pair of pink kitten heels with pointed toes and glitter details

Is that what the back of the dress is supposed to look like? Huh. I... don't love this one. Some of it is my aversion to pink still pops up every so often, part of it is just not thinking pink is Ariel's color, and part of it is wondering how the bodice is managing to look too small on a doll that I know is generally smaller than the other dolls (well, Nanea herself is) and also, Sebastian there is the stuff of nightmares. The personification of nightmare fuel.
I do like the sparkles on the skirt and honestly, in another color, I'd probably be all over this. Like teal. SWOON. But it's pink because it's supposed to be pink. *shrug* I'm wondering how this'll look on other dolls. The picture with the girl has Ariel looking a little dead inside and that's kind of how I feel in general about this one.

Overall, I think they nailed the stuff for Ariel. If I liked the mold choice more, I might consider hers the best of the three collections in terms of nailing the nostalgia factor.

Cinderella

AG Disney Princess Cinderella // $125
Item#HWD24
Kind and courageous, Cinderella extends her warm nature to everyone she meets. Celebrate this beloved Disney Princess with this enchanting doll, designed in collaboration with Disney.

Premium features:
An 18” Cinderella doll with blue eyes that open and close, signature blonde hair styled in a high bun with a blue headband and curled, sideswept bangs, and blue rhinestone earrings in her pierced ears. She has a soft cotton body, and her movable head and limbs are made of smooth vinyl.
A blue satin ball gown featuring a sweetheart illusion neckline, a bodice with braided trim and a silver foil print, white organza puff sleeves, and a white peplum overskirt with silver glitter detail
A pair of glittery “glass slippers” with kitten heels and rhinestones at the toes

Also includes:
A black satin ribbon choker necklace
A pair of white elbow-length gloves
A pair of blue cotton underwear

At first I was a little taken aback by Cindy here, and I'm not really sure why. Maybe the combo of her being very, very pale, the curly bangs, and the bubblegum lips? Maybe I was certain they'd go Classic for her? I don't know. But I've softened considerably towards her and honestly, not surprised she's on backorder already. I've seen a handful of owner pics on IG and she's beautiful in every one. I've already admitted my bias towards blue and while I can't say I've ever thought Cinderella's dress is my favorite (and it should be silver anyway) it's still a pretty dress. How am I just now wondering if her choker is what set off my lifelong love of chokers (that I cannot wear because I've got a fat neck AND have always hated things around my neck)?

I think Cindy here might also be your best value when it comes to the sheer amount of STUFF you initially get with the doll. You also get pierced ears, which neither of the other girls has. Rumor has it that Cinderella's skintone is unique but I've yet to have anyone confirm it with pics of her next to the palest of the pale dolls. Okay, I've seen a couple of dodgy pictures but I think it's enough to confirm that yeah, Cindy is pale AF. Either that or they changed the cotton candy doll's skintone, but I don't think that happened.
Again, obviously unique wig.

Ultimately, if I didn't have Lizbeth, I'd likely be tempted even as I wonder how her bangs will hold up to any amount of play. I will selfishly hope that them using the Josefina mold on Cindy doesn't mean if we do get Aurora in the future that she'll be saddled with the classic mold.
Having seen her in a few more pics this evening (bless you, tech #3!) I think Cindy is my surprise favorite.

As of right now, she's the only doll on backorder, but it's not nearly as far back as Ariel's Day dress.

Cinderella Day Dress, Friends, and Accessories // $125
Item#HWP89
Cinderella loves having her cheerful mice friends, Jaq and Gus, to keep her company as she does her daily chores.
Includes:
A dress with blue georgette sleeves and a ruffled neckline, a dark-brown velvet bodice with floral embroidery and gold trim, and a tan taffeta skirt with a white taffeta ruffle at the hem
A white satin apron with a pink satin patch
A pair of Jaq and Gus figurines
A white cotton hair kerchief and a blue georgette bow hair tie
A pair of brown shoes with blue crisscross straps

Please see blue bias above. I also love velvet and I'm really hoping the apron isn't attached to the skirt because I have a need to see this dress without it. The pictures do make it seem like they're seperate pieces and I suppose sooner or later someone will either post a picture or state one way or the other. Or I'll get mine in the mail and let you know. :P I will say that her hair kerchief is very, very thin material and if you put it on a doll with even slightly darker hair (someone put it on their Nicki), it's really noticeable.
Jaq and Gus are adorable though I hope kids don't learn the same way I did that flocking is not easily cleaned and do not get it wet.

So, yes. Bought this one too because apparently blue georgette in AG clothing is my newest kryptonite. Seriously though, I think this outfit is pretty much perfect.

Cinderella Original Gown and Accessories // $55
Item#HWP90
As Cinderella dreams of attending the ball, Jaq, Gus, and her other animal friends surprise her by transforming a dress that belonged to her mother into a beautiful ball gown.
Includes:
A pink satin dress with a ribbon-trimmed bodice, a white satin ruffled neckline, light pink satin bows on the bodice and skirt, and light pink satin drapes and white ruffled trim at the hem of the skirt
A turquoise beaded necklace
A light pink satin ribbon with a satin bow
A pair of pink satin flats with light-pink bows at the toes
A printed “dress makers” book, featuring illustrations of sewing essentials, different types of stitches, and blank pages to draw in
A doll-sized tape measure
A pair of faux scissors that dolls can hold

I don't love how this dress highlights the doll's arm sockets, which costs it points when figuring out how I feel about it. I also don't love the original dress in the film, so it's not being carried by nostalgia. I do think it's pretty enough in the pics I've seen online and I do absolutely love the accessories. If I wind up with rewards at some point, I'll likely consider it. Mostly because I want that sewing book something fierce. I do wish we'd gotten one of the girl mice (Perla?) with this, but since it would probably have come at the cost of the tape measure and scissors, I guess I can only pout a little (and only because I already own Addy's).

Basically, if you like pink or you've always loved this dress, this one's probably for you. Otherwise, for me it's gonna depend on how it looks on non-Cinderellas and how cheap AG is on the book pages. Are we talking one or two printed pages and the rest blank or maybe at least half already filled? I need to know! Also, I do love her necklace.

Overall, Cindy's collection is pretty well done and if I liked pink more, I'd probably be a little more excited. She's probably also giving you the most bang for your buck in terms of accessories for each outfit.

Tiana

AG Disney Princess Tiana // $125
Item#HWD23
Focused and driven, Tiana is determined to make her dream of opening her own restaurant come true through a mix of magic and hard work. Celebrate this beloved Disney Princess with this beautiful doll, designed in collaboration with Disney.

Premium features:
An 18” Tiana doll with brown eyes that open and close, and curly black hair styled in a high bun with face-framing tendrils and a glittery green headband with yellow organza and satin petals. She has a soft cotton body, and her movable head and limbs are made of smooth vinyl.
A green-and-yellow dress featuring a yellow organza illusion neckline, satin petal-shaped bodice, layered green satin overskirt, yellow organza skirt with petal hem, and yellow satin underskirt. A yellow flower at the waist with a rhinestone center and embroidered vine details complete the look.
A golden-metal chain necklace with green gemstones

Also includes:
A pair of yellow elbow-length gloves
A pair of green open-toe kitten heels with golden binding
A pair of green cotton underwear

Tiana is fandom's fave, in case you were curious about such things. As with each of the dolls, I have mixed feelings. I was wondering if they'd use Claudie's mold for her since, well, Claudie is also in the 20's and AG's not always great about making their dolls look different but they really did pull it off for Tiana. I love the general overall look, but I don't fully love the lip color (and it seems I'm not alone in that) though I like it when someone does a close up, so it's just a case of it not necessarily going with her outfits maybe. Or maybe it's a pretty color on the wrong doll. I'm also not sure how I feel about her eyes. I thought they were Tenney's eyes and I still feel like they might be, and if so... eh. They're possibly my least favorite AG eyes in person because they somehow look super unnatural and whoever called them Cullen eyes nailed it. It's not a case of the photos distorting them as my doll with them is just as "uhhhhhhh" in person. Sigh.

Tiana's got a unique skintone and her hair is a different color and possibly style as well from other wigs. I think she pulls very yellow in pictures, even ones where she's not in her Princess dress, and the more I think about it, I think that's the issue with the lipcolor. It clashes with her skintone. Plus side, her gown somehow doesn't call as much attention to her arm sockets, possibly due to the skintone working so well with the outfit? I wish the dress was a bit more full on the bottom but beyond that it's nice. Tiana stans seem to be pretty thrilled and I know Cass and Jess both love her. I'm loving seeing pics of her but if I had to choose between her and Claudie, right now I'd choose Claudie.

I will say that like Cindy, you do get a fair amount for your money and I love her necklace to bits. I do wish we'd gotten Tiana's dimples though. Ah well.

Tiana Work Dress and Accessories // $55
Item#HWP86
Tiana works hard as a waitress and dreams of opening her own restaurant in New Orleans one day.
Includes:
A yellow cotton A-line dress with three-quarter sleeves, a floral printed collar and sleeve cuffs, and a white cotton yoke
A green boucle coat featuring a lapel collar, buttoned sleeve cuffs, and two pockets at the front with floral embroidery details
A matching green boucle hat with a grosgrain ribbon hat band
A pair of black Mary Jane shoes with bows at the toes
Three faux beignets and a plate

AG, please show this without the coat over it. It's lovely so I'm not sure why you're hiding it here. I love the embroidering on the pockets and the shade of green is quite pretty. If you listen not carefully at all, you'll hear all the historical collectors scooping this one up while trying to justify it as more ~historically accurate~ and less costume-y. *shrug* It's nifty and I snagged it because it works on both levels, which is always a nice bonus. I will say that poor Tiana got shortchanged because while delicious, beignets are not friends, they are food. I'm absolutely on board with them being in her collection, but it feels like they should be in addition to something else. But I also recognize that there aren't a ton of options for her and I'm not really sure how well Ray would translate to a toy.

Tiana Evening Star Dress and Accessories // $55
Item#HWP87
Tiana wears this stunning gown to a masquerade ball and makes her wish of opening a restaurant on the evening star.

Includes:
A blue glitter satin dress with a mesh illusion neckline with satin trim, and a glitter-knit bow and drape at the waist
A silver tiara with rhinestone details and attached comb
A beaded necklace with a blue faceted gemstone set on a silver pendant
A pair of long pale-blue gloves
A pair of blue satin flats with satin binding and embroidery at the toes
A printed photo of Tiana’s “dream restaurant”

This is the blue dress I don't love. I don't hate it by any means, it's just not my favorite. The bodice seems to be trying to say boobs! but, y'know, AG. I like the idea of the necklace but I don't love the beads used on it (I do like the pendant) and think a simple silver chain would've worked better BUT I will admit I don't care enough to look up whether it's movie accurate this way. I don't love that Tiana got shafted when it came to accessories. Seriously, the poster has meaning but unless this is the sturdiest poster in AG's history, this is a cheat move. Don't love AG's tiaras but Tiana is as close to pulling it off as any one ever has so there's that.

Or maybe I'm simply less interested in the more Princess princess dresses? Quite possibly, really. Could also mean I'm due for a rewatch.

image host
I think Tiana's overall collection is very nice but she did get shortchanged on the little extras front. Part of it is because her movie only lends itself to so many options, so I can't get too upset but still. She's missing a little something extra in the whole collection department. To be fair though, she does get a coat included in that work outfit, but since AG just shows us the coat over and over and never the dress without it, it just feels like one piece. Also, it'd absolutely not go over the other outfits so there's that.

In general, I'd say AG did very well on something a lot of people have been hoping and begging for for years. It's not all to my taste, but I'm not a hardcore Disney person nor am I a little girl so my opinion doesn't really matter all that much. Overall, huzzah.

But uh, whoever said "Nanea mold for Ariel!", I'd like a word out back please.
