o_O Dude. I thought I'd finally managed to escape that vexing dance of three bad things for every one good thing that happens.

I so thought wrong. Blood and dogs being hit by cars and damn near crying and the selfish thought that, Christ, of all nights, why ruin mine? Oh yeah. Vague is good because details make me flinch.

Imp, the story of:
When I was but a newbie to the land of message boards [seven years and counting ago], I flitted about under my real name [Marian] because I basically only haunted one place and didn't feel like coming up with anything special since the person I talked to most at first already knew me as me. [I know him in RL you see] When the board branched out onto IRC, I was told, nicely, that perhaps I might wish to get a nick not my name to avoid the crazies. So I thought, and thought, and still came up with nada. Then I remember how I used to think Imp, my grandmother's cat, had the spiffiest name. And who wouldn't want to name themselves after a hissy, mean black cat? Yeah. It seemed like a good idea at the time and thing is, it stuck almost immediately. So, tada. I'm a cat, black and mean, and yet declawed.

Random: I now associate that picture with you. Should I ever see it elsewhere, I'll shriek "Jen!" and it'll be weird, I'm sure.

Um, insanity? :p Not sure. At first it was just the weirdness factor. You know, the fact that Barbie had gone full-out skank to battle the Bratz dolls that I'd been snickering at for awhile. And then I think about the same time my anime addiction began to kick up again and it's cheaper to buy one of those dolls and let my muse flit over and tell me a story or six about the doll than it is to shell out however much for some anime or chance running into a comic store for some manga.

And oddly enough, I like 'em even if I can't figure out why. Maybe one of those "recapture childhood" things, or maybe it's the fact that if they'd had these when I was in my Barbie days, I'd have begged for the whole lot of 'em. Big eyes! Big mouths! Skankaliscious!

It's a mystery that I wish I could explain.
