May. 21st, 2024 09:08 amYesterday was kinda busy for me. I say kinda because I really only had one thing to do but it was smack dab in the middle which left me all morning to stress... and really, much of Sunday, too. Took the cat to the vet and holy fuck, I remembered why the boys see another vet. It's so fucking expensive. o_O She got two shots and saw the doctor for like, two minutes (with another ten or so with waiting/the tech) and it was $190! To be fair, it also includes whatever tests they're running on her um, litterbox offerings, but still. Jesus.
But she was declared purrfect, was told she has very pretty eyes (and is so very cute) and the only issue is that she could probably lose some weight and be good because she's up to 13 pounds now. I knew that one was coming because she's an expert at conning Widget out of treats.
She was very talkative on the way to the vet but did not unleash her demonic howl like she did when we brought her home. Less chatty on the way home other than one pitiful yowl as Mom and I were debating stopping by a drive thru for lunch. We, obviously, did not.
Came home to find my Mooncat order had arrived. :D I do kinda wish it had shown up Saturday or Sunday before the sale ended, but my wallet says it's better that didn't happen, especially with HT putting out another collection this weekend. Anyway, from the bottles (which I haven't swatched yet because we're in the hot times now and you gotta let your polish settle from extreme temps), I'm satisfied with all of them with only one making me ponder if maybe it's pretty but not for me. That would be Plankton, and it's just the shade of green under the shimmer that's making me pause. Still gonna try it because who knows? Also, super glittery holographic without being too much, which is fun. I will admit to myself that I probably have something similar to River Styx, Rue Morgue, and Not Today, Satan buuuuuuuuuut for Styx and Satan they're LE polishes so a backup is nice. Also, we'll see.
My brother's car seems to be feeling melodramatic, which is kinda odd since I know full well he paid for the various extended warranties and whatnot, given his history with vehicles. So I'm wondering what's going on. I mention this since he called Sunday to hint around about borrowing the car yesterday only to remember, when I didn't immediately jump in to offer, the cat's appointment. Here's hoping his car is easily fixed and is covered by whatever he did, because you should get more than a year (or so) out of a vehicle, my dude.
Took advantage of Target marking down some of their MH dolls, so Heath is finally coming home, and bringing Draculaura and Clawdeen from that line to join Frankie. I also got *thinks* Pet Cleo. Not sure why I went with that Clawdeen, but past!me did. I debated tux!Clawdeen or Draculaura from that line but I didn't. Had they been the same price as the Scareadise line, I would've, but I was trying to be good.

Date: 2024-05-29 11:25 pm (UTC)My vet also declared Mr Butters to be above-average and in need of losing some weight; she suggested that I cut back on his food (since he's not big on treats) and also that perhaps we get a kitty companion to keep him active? I laughed and said that he is the king of his castle, and alas, his castle is not very big. I don't know if I could handle two of him! Or how territorial he'd be, especially about food. He already gulps it down and throws it up; if he thinks he has competition, I can't imagine that would improve, LOL.
But I like have a feline-only vet. The practice is fairly small but I definitely get enough time with the actual vet, and she has answered a slew of idiotic questions for me, which is also a plus. If you have one in your area, I suggest giving them a whirl!

Date: 2024-05-31 11:45 am (UTC)Yeah, I don't see having a friend making him chill about food. Though the boys are both fluffy, fluffy boys so maybe? But they've been together since kittenhood so that's probably not helpful. And McPiggington (our last ginger) shared with 4 other cats (and two dogs) and was still a chunky boy, even with being chased by Widget as a toddler and me for funsies.
But now I'm imagining the Cat Distribution Service sending you another Mistah B and the chaos that would ensue when they team up. Glorious!

Date: 2024-05-31 09:55 pm (UTC)Yeah, I think if I had adopted two kitties when I got Mr B, it would've been a different story, but because he's been on his own now for two years(!!) I'm wary of trying to introduce a new cat to the household. I fear he's lost some of his socialization with other kitties, as he's not as chirpy as he used to be with the vet's office cats. I suspect he quite enjoys being the center of attention, LOL. But all the old wild cat instincts would come back if he thought he had competition. So I think Mr B will just have to be a lone ranger for the duration.
(He's over 15 lbs so I have called him Butterball on occasion, though I am acutely aware that I have NO room to talk, LOL.)
