What it said on the tin, really

I dragged my feet watching the latest Interview ep because I KNEW it was going to hurt.
And it absolutely did. I said mild spoilers because at this point I imagine it's at least cultural osmosis that Claudia dies, right? Right. The show has taken liberties with things but ultimately these still feel like the same characters, just from a slightly different reality. It's a similar feeling I had with the Netflix BSC show. Certain aspects have changed but the core remains the same.
This whole season has had the threat of Claudia's death looming overhead but apart from the opener, the other episodes until now have managed to distract from that. Yeah, that all snowballs in this episode and the absolute dread that's built up throughout the episode is perfectly painful. Literally, in my case, as the weather kicked in a sinus headache (yay?) in addition to the kind of headache you get when you cry after trying very hard not to. Look, I won't say I cry at everything because that's just untrue, but if you thought I was getting through an episode where Claudia finally gets someone to put her first and then is pretty much immediately killed for it, well that's on you.
It will also never not be somehow heartbreaking and also funny as fuck that Claudia's entire mantra this season has been how it's NEVER about her when the series started because of her. I mean, yeah, then Anne went and fell in love with Lestat but still. So, in text it's true but in a meta-sense, most definitely not true. Fun.
I remain firmly on team Daniel each time he gives Armand or Louis the "are you fucking kidding me with this BS" look, particularly on Armand's claim that he was powerless to stop Claudia's death. Riiiiiiiiiiiight. Right. Sure. And yet I get why Louis buys the act because sweet merciful Zeus this show is well cast.
Claudia remaining defiant right up until the end and teasing a haunting return? Yes, please. AMC, do your job and give us an official go ahead for seasons 3-however many more we can get. I NEED The Vampire Lestat in this form because people have been posting passages from it and when I tell you my brain is like, "yeah, never seen her before in my life" to every one despite reading this damn thing twice (well, the whole thing once but I started and stopped it 3/4 of the way through one other time) I am underselling how much I do not remember. Possibly because I went all in on Queen of the Damned instead?
Anyway. Had my heart broken and yet I walked into it willingly.
