So... The Mayfair Witches is just bad. There were parts I found enjoyable (I like Cip) but my god, when I have more time I need to look into the showrunner and figure out wtf they were on because JFC this show was/is a goddamn mess.

I still don't get how you have Interview be so good and then not even TRY to emulate that for the other show in your ~Immortal Universe~. HOW.

I'm going to lay money on it being a case of "surprise hit show" and they scrambled with the other property to strike while the iron was hot. Plus didn't you say MW doesn't really fit into organically the IWtV universe and they had to make a bunch of changes? IWtV has its own rabid following anyway, and seems like it adapts better to "modern" sensibilities (I don't think you could ever make IWtV too gay, LOL).

Y'know, that could very well be it. *muse* And you are correct, it's impossible to make Interview too gay. I will say it's fascinating watching those who absolutely refuse to have anything to do with the show look down their nose at the show fandom when I know damn well some of the stuff the show's giving out is exactly what they were asking for for years. But they won't watch it because of the changes. (There are a few I totally respect and I get why it's a dealbreaker but just in general because they changed anything? Meh.)

I know MW does line up eventually with Lestat and company, though that's well after I checked out and I was relying on Cass to call me up and vent about what batshit crazy Anne Rice was on at the time. So they do need to have some things line up, but I couldn't tell you what they were aside from Rowan. MW's changes seem to be made for no reason at all while Interview's were to give a different perspective or because you just can't have a 5 year old running around doing all the stuff Claudia does or is there for. It's odd.

Yup, somebody made the decision to strike while the iron was hot instead of putting some thought into how to integrate the universes at an earlier point than book canon.

Every so often I will stumble across her wake of batshit and I am usually hit with a wave of nostalgia for the crazy times of yore and once more astounded at just how terribly wrong her takes could be. Truly a gift.
