So I'm running behind on my AG updates but in my defense, the rivers are still flooding and until this morning half the places on my end of the route to work were still very much under water.
Anyway. AG dropped their long awaited Frozen collab with Collector versions of Elsa and Anna, who are both still showing as a preorder but people have been getting them in hand so not quite sure what the deal is with that.

Disney Frozen Elsa Collector Doll // $310

Not sure why, but that please note is making me cackle internally. CACKLE. Anyway, I was all prepped to love the shit out of Elsa prior to her big reveal and then I found myself seriously underwhelmed. This seems odd since I'm still a little disappointed that I didn't wind up with a Cut A Bitch Lea, but AG's eyebrow game has been on seriously mean for awhile and I don't really like it. I think it works occasionally and I'm all for dolls looking like they have personalities, but each time I see a particularly bitchy looking AG, I wind up hearing a cacophony of watered down drag queen fans (or at least those who took the vocab and ran with it) and their variations of cunt and JFC, I cannot.
Box picture Elsa is my favorite because she looks less bitchy and more determined, but there's an IG reel I'm gonna share after Anna to showcase the dolls with their hair down and yeah, no, AG's Elsa just looks fucking mean. Also, if that person's Elsa is anything to go with, apparently yeah, her hair is just as dry as it looks in promo pics. That's unfortunate because while these are marketed as collector dolls, AG skews on the more monied side, so it's not like kids aren't going to wind up with these and yeah, Elsa's hair is gonna get fucked.
Top if off with these two being $310 each and it was a never gonna happen from me. I do like the hair clips and Elsa's gown is always pretty, at least in color scheme, so it's not a total fail, and her eyes are lovely as well. I just don't love the MG on her, or at least the combo of itty bitty lips, super pale skintone (though it fits Elsa), dry hair, and bitchy brows. It's just a lot. Thank you for not classic, AG.

Disney Frozen Anna Collector Doll // $310
Item#HYJ34
Optimistic and caring, Disney’s Anna always tries to do the right thing for her kingdom and those she loves. Celebrate her bright spirit with this captivating collector doll studded in more than 140 Swarovski® crystals. This limited-edition Disney Frozen 18-inch doll with auburn hair and blue eyes is part of the American Girl® Collector Series. No more than 5,000 American Girl® Disney Frozen Anna Collector Dolls have been created worldwide.
Premium features:
An 18” Anna doll with blue eyes that open and close, iridescent eye shadow, freckles, and long auburn hair styled in two braids with sideswept bangs. She has a soft cotton body, and her movable head and limbs are made of smooth vinyl.
Anna’s signature dress featuring a black velvet embroidered bodice with gold and magenta Swarovski® crystals, a light-blue satin collar and sleeves, golden trim along the waist, and a dark-blue satin skirt with scattered light-blue-and-gold Swarovski® crystals and floral embroidery along a glitter-infused hem
A magenta cotton-velvet cape with embroidered accents, pom-pom trim, and a heart-shaped metal clasp with four magenta Swarovski® crystals
A pair of magenta Swarovski® crystal stud earrings
A pair of kitten-heel black boots with golden embroidery, gold Swarovski® crystals, and magenta soles
Also includes:
A pair of cotton underwear
A numbered certificate of authenticity
Please note:

Of the two, Anna's doll is my favorite by a wide margin. I think her outfit somehow benefits better from the crystals (which is insane as you'd think Elsa's would be literally made for them, so wtf happened) and also just looks better constructed to begin with. I love her hair color, both in promo and what you actually seem to get, and while I think character!Anna's bangs should be a bit higher on her head versus what the doll has, it's a minor quibble. I'm so damn happy to see them not use bitchy brows on a Joss mold again (hallelujah!) that I have hope for future Joss!molds again. There are really only two things holding me back.
1) I'm not spending that kind of money on her, no matter how pretty her hair is or how AG's finally got a fantastic redhead. I'm not.
2) This one is incredibly petty and a case of fandom ruining things, but there's a chick on the boards who has a custom that's a Joss mold with a red wig and anytime someone else would do that combo, she'd claim they were inspired by or copying her doll. I'd use the name but she is absolutely the type to google such things so, no. Anyway, not identical by any means but enough that it's the first thing I thought of and I HATE THAT. Bad brain, no cookies for you. Literally, no cookies.
That said, should these get a playline version, I will be running for Anna ASAP.
Frozen dolls with their hair down. That person also has a fair amount of info on the dolls (like Anna and Elsa both seem to have Ariel's eye color, Elsa is the palest doll AG's done yet, a title previously held by Cinderella) if you're interested and typos won't drive you to drink. I mean, you're here so you're probably okay with that, right? :P
Not really sure why Anna has a smaller run than Elsa aside from the thought that maybe they thought of the two Elsa would be far more popular? I will say that AG did manage a neat trick in making the MG doll look older, but that's because they paired her with a Joss mold so that'll do it.
There is one other reason I'm not as twitchy about not being able to get Anna as I might normally be. Two days after Elsa and Anna dropped, AG gave us playline Rapunzel and my dolly thoughts have been consumed by her ever since.

Disney Princess Rapunzel // $135
Item#HYC02
Spirited and curious, Disney’s Rapunzel is determined to experience the world beyond her tower. Celebrate this beloved Disney Princess character with this captivating 18-inch doll, designed in collaboration with Disney.
Premium features:
An 18” Rapunzel doll with blue-green eyes that open and close, freckles, and signature long golden-blonde hair. She has a soft cotton body, and her movable head and limbs are made of smooth vinyl.
A purple satin gown featuring a golden foil-print bodice with crisscross lacing detail, striped puff sleeves, and a glittery skirt with iridescent organza peplums at the waist and a satin overskirt with golden embroidery.
Also includes:
A pair of purple flats with golden embroidery and pink ruffle detail
A green hair clip featuring two pink flowers with yellow rhinestone centers
A pair of pink cotton underwear
Please note:

SHE WILL BE MINE. The outfit is fine, lovely, will immediately be put with the Halloween costumes and probably used about as often (it legit looks very pretty) and once the last of the Rapunzel bits are off, she shall become my Dawn Schafer! Yes, Julie and Kira have more accurate to Dawn hair color, she's giving me such strong Dawn vibes that I cannot resist. Also, I do love Rapunzel so even if it turns out that in person she says no, she's Rapunzel, thankyouverymuch, I will love her anyway. Other than the shots on the review part of her page, I don't think I've seen a bad looking Punzie yet and I love how people are redressing her. I neeeeeeeeeeeeeed her, okay? I'm ever so pleased I waited/missed Collector Punzie because now we have playline!
I will also require this set.

Rapunzel Painting Accessories and Pascal // $40
Item#HYC03
Disney’s Rapunzel loves to express her creativity through painting with her best friend, Pascal, by her side. Play out artistic adventures with this fun doll accessory set.
Includes:
A color-reveal faux canvas that displays Rapunzel-inspired artwork. Painting on the canvas with water reveals the image, which disappears when the canvas dries.
A Pascal figurine
A faux paint palette Rapunzel can hold, a purple paintbrush with real bristles, and a transparent “paint” jar that can hold water to brush on the canvas, or a removable faux droplet of colorful paint-swirled water
A gray frying pan Rapunzel can hold, featuring a sun icon detail
A brown faux-leather shoulder bag with floral-print details on the flap. Rapunzel can wear the bag and fit her accessories inside (excluding the canvas).
PASCAL and frying pan! Yes, the frying pan is one of the reasons I love Rapunzel and thus I need this set. I do think the canvas is a fun trick for kids (or anyone who wants to play with their toys) but we know the real stars are Pascal and the frying pan. Is it overpriced? Yeah, sure. Do I need it? Also yes. And it makes sense that Rapunzel doesn't get the alternate outfits as the other Princesses because she doesn't really have other outfits the way they do and I cannot believe it took me this long to realize she's lacking in the outfit department.

Rapunzel Hair Accessories // $40
Item#HYC04
Disney Princess Rapunzel’s long, golden hair has magical healing qualities—and is extra fun to style. This doll hair accessory set includes everything needed to create Rapunzel’s signature braid and more.
Includes:
Sweet styling essentials: a set of five multicolored flower hair clips, a set of 15 hair gems in various colors, and a set of 8 clear hair elastics
An extra-long pink straight hair extension and an extra-long purple braided hair extension
A golden tiara with multicolored rhinestones and an attached comb
A silvery doll-sized hairbrush with floral details
A hairstyle booklet that shows how to create Rapunzel’s signature braided hairstyle
A transparent purple zippered pouch with a gold-print graphic that can hold all the accessories
Would it have killed AG to make that brush actually practical? You're charging $40 for this set, the brush could be an actual brush, AG. WTF. If the other set was likely overpriced, this one is just egregiously so. That said, it's also fucking brilliant because of course you sell Rapunzel with her hair down and then you sell the stuff you need to make the fancy braids. Of COURSE you do. And um, it's gonna work because I do like the look of it all together. Well, I don't love the tiara, but the clips and gems and hair extensions? Yes, please. The pouch also makes sense as a way to keep it all safe and together.
But first I must get this little advent calendar they snuck in sometime around Rapunzel's release.

American Girls Collection 2024 Advent Calendar // $25
Item#HYN08

It's so stinkin' cute! I would've loved it if they paired with Lauren Schmidt for the art (I would have already thrown them my money) but this gives a similar-ish vibe and is cute as hell. I love the packaging and I kinda want multiple sets. One to use as intended, one to keep, and one to gift the eldest goddaughter (little one is too little). Just repeat "they're so cute!" in higher pitched voices until only dogs can hear you and you've got my reaction. Oh. And they included the NOLA girls and best friends! So damn cute. ♥
