I've been very lax in my AG roundups as of late. In my defense, I'm lazy. I'm sorry that short of me getting a second wind in the next hour or so, this won't be going up during the preorder window but I got shit to do tomorrow so... we'll see. It didn't go up, I'm sorry. But today is wide release day, so there's that.

In what feels like the theme for my life, I feel like I missed out on the PnC love as a kid because I didn't own this one and so all the massive nostalgia for her over the years has mostly passed me by. I don't remember if the doll was scented or if my hatred of peach was just so strong that I wouldn't have gotten over it and just assumed she was and left it at that because no way I would've chanced it. That being said, I can't say that the nostalgia completely misses me, since my Barbie having friends definitely had one variation or another of her. I might've been the only Barbie kid to not own her in my group, honestly. I vividly remember that top and I know Anne Marie, Laura, and A&C had her. All of which is to say I get why to a lot of people she's (one of) the iconic 80's Barbies. The look is memorable and for the most part, fashionwise is seems to translate pretty well for AG. What trips them up is the makeup. I'm not one of the "AG characters are too young, don't put them in makeup!" crowd, but the blue shadow on the brunette stands out a little too much for me, which is exaggerated by the fact that everything else about her is so oddly monochromatic. Could be that I dislike the eyes (not the shadow, the actual eyes being used) and lip combo, could be I loathe the lip color on this doll, I dunno. Faithful to the doll it may be but it's keeping my non-existent money safe for me. The blonde looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay orange (again, may be faithful to the doll, may just be lighting) and also either Classic's cheeks got chubbier or the photos are just unflattering in that regard. As I mentioned before, I'm lazy, but the two shots I saw from IG of the blonde in her box did not make me like her any more even as other people were like, "wow, so much better!" annnnnnnnnd I need AG to fix their damn classic mold because we're going on how many years of her looking wonky as fuck?

Overall, I think she's pretty in both forms, but I'm safe from having to figure out what to do with a very expensive doll.

Honestly, the more I look at them, the more I like them. Not damn near $300 worth of like them, but like all the same. Perhaps this is my contrarian self kicking in as the number of people who loudly boast how they don't buy AG stuff anymore are clutching their pearls and shrieking over the Barbie-fication of AG is as high as you'd expect. Madams, perhaps if you actually bought something from the company, they wouldn't have to swing to something you find beneath you/the company in order to make a sale. Logic. Whoosh.

If not for the cramps, I'd properly catch up with the new TM outfit/dolls, the Crocs collab, and whatever else I've missed. As it is, we're gonna see if food helps the cramps settle down. If so, I may edit/make a new post about that stuff. If not, it'll happen when it happens.

I also missed the iconique P&C Barbie as a kid. Never had her, never wanted her, never really understood what the Big Deal was. So this release kinda falls flat for me (me, the non-AG buying drive-by commenter on your blog, LOL). I will say that I prefer the brunette version, though. Peach is a hard color to pull off it if you have basically no color in your skin.

Finally I'm not the only one! I was starting to feel like the only 80's kid who didn't make it out without one

We are mind-melders for a reason, LOL.

they tried to correct no color by going peachy orange. Which was... a choice and a half.

UCK. Do they not understand warm v cool skin tones??
