AG: Plush-pocalypse (for my bank account)
Aug. 23rd, 2025 04:29 amI guess with my unexpected night off, I can get back to the AG new-ness? We'll see if I blow this off because I want to read or the power goes weird. (Don't go weird, power.)
I posted awhile back about the AG ragdoll plush dolls and how they were coming and also gonna be stupidly expensive for what they are, and they dropped yesterday. They are absolutely stupidly expensive (fuck you, Tangerine Terror!) but they are also cute as a fuckin' button so we're gonna take a moment to acknowledge the insane price point being insane due to it being AG and also the state of the fucking union and then we're gonna concentrate on literally everything else. say fuck one more time, self.
Okay, let's go. We're gonna start with the plush dolls and when time permits, I'll either edit with the Disney stuff I've missed or just make another post.

My First Samantha Doll and Board Book // $65
Item#JFP82
Start your little one’s collection with a soft Samantha Parkington® plush doll inspired by the original American Girl® historical character. Growing up in New York in 1904, Samantha is a spunky girl who proves generosity is always in fashion. The doll arrives ready for snuggles with a sweet storybook geared for ages 18 months and up.
Includes:
A 13.5" My First Samantha™ knit plush doll with brown yarn hair styled in with a large gingham bow and ponytail braid, rosy-pink cheeks, and embroidered eyes and smile. Her sewn-on outfit is inspired by Samantha’s® signature look: a multicolored checked dress with a pleated front, a red ribbon belt with an embroidered golden buckle, white bloomers, black tights, and black faux-leather Mary Jane shoes.
A Hello, Samantha board book written for younger ages, based on characters created by Pleasant Rowland and featuring adorable illustrations by Sydney Hanson
We begin with my beloved Samantha who did not make the transition to ragdoll without a few questionable changes. I really thought I'd be more hungup on the hair (and I am) but it's really the bright red belt instead of it being burgandy that's throwing me for a loop. The correct color is literally there on the book cover, or any Samantha doll. Why. Is. The. Belt. Red??? AG, your signature color is berry! That would be closer than red! The hair I can excuse because I imagine it's braided because otherwise tangles and choking hazards abound but the belt is just WHY.
She's cute and she's very much giving Blossom from the PPG vibes with that big ol' bow but she's not my favorite and that hurts to say. You wound me, American Girl. She will be mine though and that book looks cute as hell.

My First Addy Doll and Board Book // $65
Item#JFP83
Start your little one’s collection with a soft Addy Walker™ plush doll inspired by the original American Girl® historical character. Growing up in Philadelphia in 1864, Addy is a brave girl who loves to learn and wins the spelling bee. The doll arrives ready for snuggles with a sweet storybook geared for ages 18 months and up.
Includes:
A 13.5" My First Addy™ knit plush doll with dark-brown yarn hair styled back in a braid, rosy-pink cheeks, and embroidered eyes and smile. Her sewn-on outfit is inspired by Addy’s™ signature look: a pink dress with wavy white stripes and embroidered buttons, white drawers, black socks, and black faux-leather boots with laces.
A Hello, Addy board book written for younger ages, featuring adorable illustrations by Sydney Hanson
Addy's cute as hell and I love her. Had I not literally bought Cass's birthday present the day before these dropped, and had it not been stupidly expensive, I'd have gotten her Addy instead. As it is, Addy's my second favorite of the bunch and she's also the character to have made the easiest transition to ragdoll form. The hair and outfit are both accurate, the face is adorable, and about the only thing I could maybe quibble is how bright the blush is, but dammit, Addy is commited to the pink and if that's what she's going for, I support it. Seriously, so freakin' cute. I just want to cuddle her so much!

My First Kirsten Doll and Board Book // $65
Item#JFP81
Start your little one’s collection with a soft Kirsten Larson™ plush doll inspired by the original American Girl® historical character. Growing up on a Minnesota farm in 1854 after traveling with her family from Sweden, Kirsten is an adventurous girl who discovers that feeling at home takes time. The doll arrives ready for snuggles with a sweet storybook geared for ages 18 months and up.
Includes:
A 13.5" My First Kirsten™ knit plush doll with blonde yarn hair styled in looped braids with blue ribbons, rosy-pink cheeks, and embroidered eyes and smile. Her sewn-on outfit is inspired by Kirsten’s™ signature look: a blue calico-print dress with tiny red flowers, a red-and-white striped apron, white pantalettes with lace trim, striped knit socks, and brown faux-leather boots with laces.
A Hello, Kirsten board book written for younger ages, based on a story by Janet Shaw and featuring adorable illustrations by Sydney Hanson
Ah, Kirsten. I'm so happy they included you in this. I do wish they'd make your outfit look a little less like a blue, calico skin suit though. It's maybe the fact that her neck is white instead of having that piece of lace around the neckline and letting the poor girl have a neck and not a clerical collar type of deal. I also wish her braids didn't stick out so much but that's mostly because it's reminding me of when people do her braids wrong and that's a me issue. Still, cute as hell.

My First Josefina Doll and Board Book // $65
Item#JFP84
Start your little one’s collection with a soft Josefina Montoya® plush doll inspired by the original American Girl® historical character. Growing up in New Mexico in 1824, Josefina is a girl full of hope who learns that kindness really is the best medicine. The doll arrives ready for snuggles with a sweet storybook geared for ages 18 months and up.
Includes:
A 13.5" My First Josefina™ knitted plush doll with brown yarn hair styled in a side braid with a sprig of yellow felt primroses and a blue ribbon, rosy-pink cheeks, and embroidered eyes and smile. Her sewn-on outfit is inspired by Josefina’s® signature look: a white camisa with puffed short sleeves, a red skirt with black blossom print and lace trim, a brown woven belt, white drawers, and brown faux-leather boots with laces.
A Hello, Josefina board book written for younger ages, based on a story by Valerie Tripp and featuring adorable illustrations by Sydney Hanson
Aww, Josefina's also cute as hell. I think she'd be cuter with her sleeves being a little poofier and I do kinda wish she had an embroidered necklace or something to break up the white camisa, but I guess she did get flowers for her hair so that's something. Not sure whether the failtography is at it again or if they did essentially whitewash her though. I know this was brought up when the pics leaked, along with everyone wondering why she and Molly both went auburn. With Josefina, I feel like her illustrations always did have some red, so I'm okay with it, but her outfit needs a little more fullness. I'm most curious about how she looks in person vs photos.

My First Molly Doll and Board Book // $65
Item#JFP85
Start your little one’s collection with a soft Molly McIntire™ plush doll inspired by the original American Girl® historical character. Growing up on the home front in 1944, Molly is a spirited girl who shows what it means to put others first and lead. The doll arrives ready for snuggles with a sweet storybook geared for ages 18 months and up.
Includes:
A 13.5" My First Molly™ knit plush doll with brown yarn hair styled in pigtail braids with red bows, rosy-pink cheeks, and a pair of embroidered glasses, plus embroidered eyes and smile. Her sewn-on outfit is inspired by Molly’s™ signature look: a navy-and-red argyle-print sweater, a dickey with a white woven collar and navy rickrack trim, a navy-blue skirt, white bloomers, white ankle socks, and black faux-leather Mary Jane shoes.
A Hello, Molly board book written for younger ages, based on a story by Valerie Tripp and featuring adorable illustrations by Sydney Hanson
Molly is my favorite. I think she's got the most amount of detail, from the glasses to the bows, to how her outfit is pretty much scaled to plush perfection. Seriously, compare the detailing on Molly to Kirsten or Josefina. Molly gets to keep her neck and gets a collar with trim! I do not know why her hair is longer than Josefina's but I'll be damned if she isn't cute as a button. I'll freely admit that part of my love is because she reminds me a LOT of a doll I had as a kid who had reddish brown braids just like Molly's. I still have her somewhere, though I don't recall where she's hiding at the moment, and I feel terrible I don't remember her name. But I can see her clearly in my mind and I remember fishing her out of the toybox several times over the years and carrying her around, rebraiding her hair and basically making sure she never got given away.
In case you wondered, according to Shopify's "__ have put this in their basket!" metric, Samantha's the number one seller, with Molly, Kirsten, Josefina, and then Addy. Addy and Josefina are both on the much lower end, sadly. Fear not, my babies, for I shall own you all one day.
