impyNew to the night shift manager, night one: Did not break down weeping, putting him ahead of the Weasel [who, admittedly did not actually cry that I know of, but looked damn close]. Did not alienate both clerks, putting him ahead of the right hand bitch. Did not flatter me to death, behind Mr. Cao. So, he ain't perfect, but the real test comes Saturday. *cackles*
Finished Shattering Glass the other night and realized, again, that it's a shame the young adult section of the library [and more so for bookstores] tends to be ignored and weeded out so as to shrink to smaller than the freakin' video section. It's wrong. Because then stuff like this gets thrown out or ignored. So, you ask, what's it aboot, Impy, and why do you spell 'about' so weirdly? Simple. Aboot is a way of hearing South Park Canadian accents in my head. SG is about a group of popular guys who end up making one of the school... geeks? Nerds? Something less desirable into one of the more liked students on campus. Only if you read the back, or the first freakin' sentence, you're told they also kill him. So the story is told leading up to that point. At the beginning of each chapter, there's a quote from another character that reminds you that, hello, your narrator is a killer. Or is he? The ending, even though you're told what happens before it happens, kicks you in the teeth. And then all the little quotes and information falls into place. Creepy.
I've apparently run out of library books to read [I thought I'd gotten more, but I guess not] so I'm reading through the earlier Sweet Valley High books I bought back when Ryan was here. Problem is, give me half an hour and I'm nearly done. Sigh.
