*eyes shift back and forth* So, who wants to lose all musical respect for me? You, you in the back? Good. I'm sure I've got something to do just that. :p

Might've noticed I like Lindsay Lohan [in a thoroughly legal way, I assure you.]... well, I caved and bought her album. I think I stalled at track #5 or something because that's about the time Mom came back from the grocery store and I popped the CD out. [Never listen a CD you know is going to be on your guilty list for the first time with someone else. It'll be forever tainted. Also holds true for movies and TV.]

Wait. Now I've finished [time elapsed, I got distracted by LJ, k?]

And now a track by track ego trashin':

1.) first- Nothing kicks off a pop/rock/teenybopper album like jealousy. Oh, and the lyric i wanna come first which every damn review will lead you to believe has to be all kinds of pervy. Oh, given the images scattered throughout the liner notes, I'm not saying it's not. I'm just saying that in the context of the song, it's not as over the top as they'd lead you to believe. You'll notice me waxing poetic about trivial things. That's because this song is just begging to be made fun of. It's hyper though, and if I were the type to drive legally or our car didn't tend to die, I'd probably crank it in zee car. Otherwise this song does have one other...special power. It tells you, without lies, that the whole fucking album with the sort of exception of rumors, every damn song is about a relationship/guy. Which isn't always bad, but it's not always good.

2.) Nobody 'Til You- Raspy little voice she's got. I like this song. It took a listen or three, but the hook finally got me. No one's going to accuse this disc of being lyrically perfect, but if nothing else, this song will get in your head. It's also slightly less predictable in the rhyming scheme than 95% of the rest of the disc.

3.) Symptoms of You- Take the vocals out, the melody they've got going on is gorgeous at times. Put the vocals back in and there's one glaring problem. This song is schizophrenic. One minute it's ballad, the next it's leading to slightly less ballad, then back to ballad and then there's hyper pop with horrible lyrics you can see a mile away. I won't quote it because you have to hear it to believe it. I don't mind the oxymoronic lyrics, but I don't like changing back and forth, and the ballad part is so pretty it's really vexing when the chorus kicks in. It hurts.

4.) Speak- Back to sort of dance-y, eh? Kill the intro, dive into the chorus because until then she sounds exactly her age which is slightly disturbing. If you don't listen close, this one could also do the job of keeping you awake while driving. Not my favorite. Honestly, it reminds me of something I'd imagine one of the former Spicies might release. Hrmm. Not the worst insult to be slung, but not the most glowing of praise.

5.) Over- Know what made me buy the album? A ten second clip of this song. I like it. Tis my favorite on the album, actually. I'd pretty much despaired of finding anything I'd like enough to justify having bought the damn thing and then, aha! I love this one and it works on repeat. Score. Her voice sounds a little less processed and that's only a good thing. The lyrics don't suck anywhere near as much as #3, and are quotable at times.

6.) Something I Never Had- Not as spiffy as Over, but if the song after my favorite doesn't require me to immediately skip backwards, I consider it not sucky. It's cute, I like it overall. I'm probably not going to develop a song-love for it, but if you ain't Live or OLP, or Tori, that ain't always a possibility.

7.) Anything But Me- I smell.. the 80's! The only real gripe is the dragging out of certain words and pronunciation that taxes the rhyming thing we've obviously gotta have in songs. [otherwise... chaos!] We're obviously back in the poppy but angry tinged section of the CD.

8.) Disconnected- Back to wonky lyrics that I liked when Geri Halliwell threw 'em out, but this one is a bit off. Catchy, but if you quote it, people are gonna think you a crack fiend or "deep."

9.) To Know Your Name- This is a seriously odd song. I can't figure out whether it's just odd background noise or if I like it. If nothing else, it's different. Except that it's again with the relationship angle. Sigh. Dating someone famous must be tough. *cough*

10.) Very Last Moment in Time- Don't know how to put it other than typical final song on the disc song. It's not bad, it's not awful, and by now they've dropped the massive overproduced sound on her voice [don't worry, that'll be back for the actual last song]. I like it but currently I haven't made it to the end of the disc without losing my attention by now. Which isn't a bad thing necessarily. But that's neither here nor there. Not a bad song all things considered.

11.) Rumors- You've either heard it or you don't wanna. It'll keep you awake, but it could also give you a massive migraine. Do not listen if you have a small headache. The overly popular set could probably relate, but for the average [not that I'm average mind you... :p] gal, bah. *shrug* It's never been something I loved, and I always imagined Disney had a heart attack when this video came out.

overall: Fluff thy name is Lindsay Lohan's musical career thus far. It ain't awful if you're expecting exactly what you're going to get. Pop. She's not trying to take on Tori Amos, she's trying to at least rank in around Li'l Simpson and the Obvious Disney Teenster. Since I don't have albums by either of those two, I'm not sure who wins. She can bitch you out in songs, her voice works for that. She can pull off the don't leave me-vibe. She needs better song writers though. I hate listening a song for the very first time and knowing exactly how someone's going to rhyme a word. I hate, hate, hate it. I hate it when it's someone I adore and I hate it more when it's someone who I dislike.

And on a superficial note, I really don't love the cover art. I'm shallow.

God, it went and got cold. or the blankets slipped. I'm not sure which it is.

*yawns* Okie, I'm off to edit pics.
