crack, pop, fuccccccck.
Oct. 21st, 2003 01:35 amSo, twas Ari's 22nd birthday. And since she has serious birthday issues, moreso than I do, we are currently celebrating the 18 days of Arianne. [starting Oct 14th] She and her sister, Cass [my other bestest type friend], came over on Thursday. We were supposed to put braids in Ari's hair, but somehow we started on Cass's first. I think this was to teach me the art of it. I'm quite the wiz at actually braiding, but the attaching the fun fake hair to her head? Not so good with that since it has to be tight. But I got the hang of it. Only to find it damn near impossible to go from braiding her hair and the not hers to just the not hers because her real hair would kind of, uh, shoot out of the braid. So I kind of gave up.
Hours later I would realize that Arianne did this too and I shouldn't have given up. :p I'm also hopeless with a lighter, something that has been a source of great amusement to people when they realize I was raised by a family that smokes. Or at least the extended part does. You'd think it'd be right up there on the things I can do. But no. Anywho, we started at a little before 8. We gave up and ripped them out at 5:30AM because there was no way we'd be done in time for her to get any sleep. And we hadn't even started on Arianne. :p
Friday was spent realizing just how dirty Snow White really is [an awful lot of ass shaking] and how cheesy The Worst Witch is. *sniff* But I love it still, so, ha!
So. Saturday, Ari's actual birthday. I go over to her house and we have pizza, I get to see her birthday presents before she's given them, and she rejoices over getting Sleeping Beauty and The Lion King DVDs. :) I give her my card and candle holder [dudes, still broke. but anyone who sees pretty in pink on DVD for cheap? Lemme know, kay?] that's a happy little pumpkin. We celebrate the death of her youth, and then she decides she wants to dye her hair red. So we dye over the parts we once bleached blonde. I think the red looked cute, but I haven't seen it styled, so I don't know for sure.
Blah, blah. I'd brought my CDs so she could burn my Dido one and perhaps the second Dawson's Creek CD. Instead she decides she wants to recreate this tape I made for her about 6 years ago. [I was the reigning princess of mixed tapes, please stop laughing. now!] Now, somehow she claims to have loved this tape even though it's got the worst tracklisting known to man. One just doesn't switch between Stabbing Westward and the Spice Girls. It's just not done! And yet I did it. I still say that's my paxil period, but whatever. So. She gathers the songs and it's a little longer than one CD, so she starts to make a second.
Pay attention! When we moved in here, I bought two CDs and aquired a Charmed addiction. Those two CDs were Dizzy Up the Girl - Goo Goo Dolls and Siren - Heather Nova.
Shortly there after, my Heather Nova CD managed to get this grand canyon size crack in it. Right down the middle. Only if you ran a finger across the crack, you couldn't feel it. Very odd. It would play in every other stereo/computer/whatever. So basically, you had a 50/50 shot of it working. Good songs though, so I kept it. That and it was hard as hell to find at the time, and that was right after it came out. :p
Apparently the Grand Canyon didn't like Derrick's [ari's boyfriend] CD burner. At first it wouldn't read, and then when she tried again, we heard a horrible Pop! explosion. Of course we couldn't get the computer to release the CD, so Derrick excused himself, went to his room and yelled, "FUUUUCCCCCK!" Not pleasant. He didn't even try to kill her [or me], and their roommate came home in time to mock and try to keep the situation semi light. The CD was finally extracted from the drive when the drive was removed, and thus I have pictures. Btw, the burner survived. She went on to burn that second CD, only without the Heather Nova songs. :p

Rest in pieces, little papercup song. Rest in pieces.
