Thus concludes my mini-Kate Hudson fest. Also known as, damn she gets the yummy costars and is quite cute herself. Yush.

Alex & Emma did what I thought impossible. I actually liked a Luke Wilson movie. One where he's in 95% of the shots. And I actually liked him. Usually he does the creepy characters I think I might be supposed to like, but heaven help me I can't figure out why. But he was fantabulous as Alex/Adam. Shocked the hell out of me. Liked the movie, liked him, liked Kate's various parts, and not just because I'm sucker for something that helps to convince me that while I may not write well, at least I might not be completely nuts in the whole "characters speak to me" thing.

On the other hand, that's not usually what makes me think I might someday become seriously unhinged, so... little comfort at dawn when sleep is running from me, I suppose.

While watching The Four Feathers I was reminded that I really don't understand the urge to conquer other people, kill 'em all, or basically kill on a grand scale. Oh, I understand being so mad at one person, or even a small group of people, that you could kill them. That I get. But a giant group of people you've probably never even met a quarter of? Nope. Don't get it.

Ryan's called twice the last two days, and guess who hasn't been told about it until I check the goddamned caller ID? Oh yeah. Me. Fuckity fuck. I'm pissed at him for not fucking writing, but since no one will give me the phone when he calls... ARGH. And the annoying thing was I was awake when he called today. yesterday. Whatever.

I am so pissed off [in a weird in theory way] at my brother. I may not always tell him who exactly called, but I don't erase the numbers from the phone [he does, leaving only his friends] and I tend to tell him, hey, whoever called. And whenever he's dating someone? I give him the phone unless I'm in the middle of a very important [longdistance] call.

But, I did ask Liz when Cass works and have a time. So yay for me.

Hungry. Need to call the bank and see if I have the cash to buy part of Cass' present and the new TV Guide if it's out. Coupon and all.

Let's play good news, bad news, okay?

Good news: I got a decent paycheck!
Bad news: The wench at Knology [when I called the other day] didn't mention a damn thing about a deposit if my credit was less than stellar [or, I think, in my case, non existant]. So I had to pay the previous bill [kiss 100.40 bucks from my savings account, which I knew about] as well as $105 in addition to the $50 bucks I have to pay for some odd ass reason I stopped paying attention to. What the fuck? Why didn't someone tell me this before I shelled out the first $100 bucks? Then I'd be drowning my sorrows someplace they serve fruity Kahlua-ified drinks now, dammit. I can't even do that now, despite my original plan to do so anyway. I just figured out how much "fun" money I have left, and with the freakin' AOL bill coming due any day now, I don't have enough to go drown my sorrows in lobster rolls and tasty drinks. :/ I. Hate. Being. Grown up.

Good News: I will be getting cable.
Bad News: They can't install it until October 7. I will miss so much Charmed and Luke & Lorelai goodness, I might as well not have bothered. But... it will be here. Sometime. Maybe. Yes.

Good news: I bought Cass's birthday present. And wrapping paper, and a bag for the odd shaped goblet, tissue paper, confetti!, and a freakin' festive bow, man. I am all over this birthday thing. I am seriously making up for the last couple of shitty years, dude. I even bought her a black rose from Party City because she used to obsess over wanting some of those. So I bought one. Because I'm thoughtful like that. And it was cheap. And pretty. And went with my color scheme.

Bad News: Her boss swears she isn't working today, and if she's not at work and she's not at home, I'll be wasting my money going up to North Charleston to deliver her gift early. :/

Good news: It's Jake's Birthday!
Bad News: Um... he's now even more ancient than before? :p

Crap. I missed mah TS3 meeting. Didn't realize this until I was at Red Lobster waiting for my Kahlua cappucino to arrive. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. That was a little slice of heaven right there. To you, Jake. Okay, to me. But happy thoughts sent your way.

Now I have to laugh my freakin' arse off and not reply. Backstory first. Some nitwit [if it's someone I normally respect, you might want to just not tell me because I'll lose all respect for you, whoever you could have been] is blaming Shannen Doherty for Tru Calling being yanked from it's scheduled premiere date. Which, technically a sane person could make a relatively sound arguement for in that if she weren't joining North Shore, they might not feel it should have TC's timeslot. But no. This person's response when I asked why even fucking mention her political affiliation? Behold!
[them](BTW_republican is not the problem, it is the fact that she is a
hypocritical bi-atch that IS!)[/them]
[me] So, uh, why mention her political affiliation? [/me]
[them in all their glory!] Actually, I believe there are conservative political forces at work changing the course of television programming. Notice the loss of strong female heroes (buffy, xena, dark angel, now tru--ok we have jennifer garner, but she is also so traditionally female and vulnerable in so many ways, and I for one have never found the show inspiring in that regard, but then I don't watch it, so maybe I speak too hastily), as well as the move away from science-fiction and into brain-dead "reality" and "strongly traditional heterosexual" soap-opera type dramas (the OC reminds me a bit of Dynasty in the Regan era). I think it is a conservative plot to keep us from "thinking" or questioning things (as sci-fi so creatively does), and it is obvious that many shows where the star speaks out freely in non-conservative ways (like politically incorrect) are axed.
Just my 2 cents of watching television trends and political ones.[/them]

... You could get me on board with the ridding the airwaves of strong female leads carrying their own shows. You could... if the same fucking trend hadn't been everywhere in the media in the late 90's and not also died a horrific death too. Comic books cashed in the most and they all [mostly, anyway] folded. Couldn't sustain what could have/should have been a bunch of good ideas. Movies tried. They gave up. TV goes in cycles. It sucks, yes. Some of it might be attributed to political conservaticism, but the fact still remains:
None of that is Shannen's freakin' fault. I so want to respond with this: "... Oh. My. God. You're right. Shannen Doherty is single handedly responsible for the downfall of Buffy, Xena, and the 'kick ass in more ways than one' heroine. All because she's a Republican. How could I have been so blind? How?"

*makes a strangling motion in the general direction of this moron*

Sometimes...

So thirsty. Sooooo thirsty. But I did get to give Cass her present. :D Yay!
