of AFI and birthdays
Jun. 27th, 2006 05:39 amI have no idea why my days off mean I get next to no time on zis loverly machine, but they do. Yesterday was a combination of the boy needing the phone to find out if he has work [dude! if it ain't raining, they should know beforehand], Mom deciding that even though I was already on the Firefly extras, I'd be there awhile and sneaking her computer time, and then a trip out into the world. Which should still have left me oodles of time online, yes? No. We get home and see the boy's girlfriend's truck [say that three times fast. I know, it's easy] and think, crap. Then she comes scurrying out of the house and once more I notice she's skeletal. It's a bit scary when you add to it the fact that her eyes are a bit on the sunken in side. Anyway, bitchiness aside for the moment, I shrug and head for the door, wondering who is on the cover of this month's AP. I know it's AP cuuuuz they're the only magazine I get that has gotten the memo about putting plastic wrap on zee mags. Screw the enviroment, I want to be able to read my magazines without the aid of tape.
I get to the door, see the box and hold it over my head, all kinds of triumphant. My AFI Despair Faction kit... thingie came. Yay! :D I figured it wouldn't show for awhile, considering how many people were complaining about the backlog, y'know? Anyway, as I'm about to skip off and show mumsy, Catherine [the girlfriend] comes up and mentions the boy is home and oh, yeah, he's in a pissy mood because he hit his ankle with a sledgehammer.
...To think, all this time I've used sledgehammer jokes and here I'm given the perfect opportunity and I cannot use it. D'oh.
I'm wondering how much damage he did, since he spent the next two hours practically prancing [hey, alliteration, my old friend] up and down the stairs and throughout the house. The one time I took a brick to my ankle [accident] I couldn't walk at all. I remember our sledgehammer before it died. That would hurt like a bitch...
So, back to the important thing. Yesterday must have been AFI day. For I recieved the AP cover with Davey annnnnd my pretty shiny DF box, not to mention the magazines I picked up. While out in the land of books, I also picked up Undead and Unpopular, which I will read immediately following the conclusion of Dark Tort, unless the former is meant to be a birthday present.
[boring story about that]: BAM had a sale Saturday and I sent Mumsy, Daddy, and Widgety out into it. I'd have gone, only, you know, sleep. Frick. Alas! Mom went to look specifically for three magazines [one of which I found within two seconds] and for zee book. So she looked in the place where all the other books were, and she asked them if they had it, and there was a whole song and dance number. Really impressive, I'm told. Nada. But I drag her there yesterday and she's wandering around normal fiction, or hell, maybe she asked again, and they direct her to fiction. Where it's sitting there. Mocking her.
Luckily, whoever has the power realized they employed an idiot for their sale and she got the discount. And by she, I mean me. Or my card. But I don't know if it's for my birthday or if we're going to have to fight over who gets to read it first. *muse*
Mmmmkay. Almost time to go hide for an hour while the boy waits to find out if he works. I guess. I wonder, do you go into work the next day if you smashems your ankle?
Hey, happy birthday
