Jun. 26th, 2006 05:10 amSomeone exlain to me why I still have the widget enrolled in a bookclub when he so obviously does not give a damn about the books and only gives half a damn about the trivia cards included in the packs?
Oh. Yeah. Because I keep hoping one day he'll rise above the immediate parental genetics and the years of seeing people other than his parents read will inspire him. Meh.
And I have this vision of Mom finally assembling her bookshelves and letting the widget's small collection of books sit on one of them for awhile. Just to see what it's like.
Widget left yesterday. All things considered, the visit went relatively well for me. Everyone else may have been in hell, but the Widge and I hung out a smidge [not a ton, alas] and we created particularly disgusting lunchable pizzas that not even the widge would eat. Naturally he left the first day I would have been able to actually do more than lie around feeling a lot like death. :p He also slept in yesterday. Go figure. However, that gave me time to finish At Risk which was pretty good. It was missing something though, and I can't quite figure out what that is. It probably wasn't helped by my brain still being firmly entangled in the world of The Shaktra and wanting to know what the blue hell was going on there.
Back to the Widge, right before he left, he remembered I hadn't seen his big boy bed [the crib is now lying in pieces in the office, blocking the path to the computer. Vault for it] so I got the grand tour. I was a bit worried as to how they'd fit a bed into a room with a smallish desk and a dresser already, but it actually worked. Yay. The walls are depressing, which you didn't notice with the crib, buuuuut I'm guessing someone, sometime mentioned paint. Why? Because he was blathering on about it. Cute.
*cracks jaw* Know what's fun? When your nightmares kind of bleed into one another. It's as if part of your brain realizes you aren't really enjoying the show about drowning, so they rewind that one, subtract a little water and add an alien army invasion just to spice things up a little.
The cat is demanding I play fetch with her.
