impy: tori from jackie's strength video (these kisses)
My triumphant return seems to have escaped most people's notice. This is fine, as I've got to admit, I'm feeling exceptionally lazy these days. Which could just be the "I need a vacation" lazy or it could be "Soon to be in a funk" lazy, or perhaps it's just lazy for the sake of lazy. I don't know. I do know that I feel a bit like an idiot about the whole thing, but what can you do? Besides not succumb to the lure and all.
New computer is quite loverly. She plays music without necessitating the shutting down of all other programs. When muted, you don't have to listen to the dial up of doom [I know, I know, I should eventually go all the way in update land], and all around with the love of the DVD player. Of course, issues have already popped up. Like the fact that Virus Bait [previous computer] had a graphics program. Sure, it was older than dirt, but since I'm not all woo with the bells and whistles, it worked for me. I do, however, require more than the option to crop things -badly, I might add. Siiiigh.
Also added my anti virus program of choice and then came the unrelenting task of having to pretty much find my favorite places and set things up just the way I like 'em. These things are going to be an ongoing battle. Upshot, I don't have as many favorite hunting grounds as I used to, so that's only a mild pain in my ass. Yay me.

All that aside, I've been in the middle of a massive Gilmore Girls marathon. [I had to do something while VB was down for the count and my new baby had yet to arrive, right? And I only had two discs left in my Buffy S7-a-thon.] Which started out badly. It seems I recorded the premiere twice, but at first I only found one copy of it and that copy was obviously recorded during one of our numerous storms. Ever since the WB and UPN spawned their bastard, CW, I keep getting the green screen of doom anytime a squirrel sneezes and I'm watching that channel. Meh. So there was that for almost the entire hour. No sound, just the occasional block of picture in the left hand corner. Lots of clocks. However, I was determined to actually watch the show, dammit. So I just continued on with the next episode on the tape. Yeah, that wasn't the second episode. It was maybe the sixth episode or something. But I didn't know that because I didn't have an episode guide and there wasn't a previously on... thing, not that it would help since I'd missed the previous episode anyway, right?
I was so confused for the entirety of that tape. I don't remember if the second tape I popped in was the one with the actual premiere [from when it, you know, premiered] or if it was the third tape, but by then I was ready to cry out of TV geek frustration. I'm not sure i... Scratch that. I've watched other seasons out of order, and while I was a little confused when the soapy aspects would appear [Max for one, spent lots of time confounding me], I could usually slide into any given episode and appreciate it, even if it was just a superficial laugh here and a sniffle there. This season you just can't do that. Maybe the casual fan or the super obsessive could, but where I live in the middle ground, it was confusing as hell. When I did manage to watch the first tape, it pretty much clicked in my head, so that's nice. Sometimes even when you watch them out of order, but do watch them, you still don't get half the stuff going on. So there's a plus.
For those like me... )

When I get bored with the land of the computer [love!], I'll head back to my room for a shower and another mini-a-thon. Woo.

Almost out of books to read. Again. I should head to the library and fix this. I should do a lot of things. But I have an excuse for the shower and the 'thon. The washer has pretty much depleted the hot water, and I took my required freezing cold shower last week when the hot water heater thingamabob died. So. Frickin. COLD. Anyway... This does leave me with no excuse for the library site though. Meh.

May approaches. Excuse me while I list.

Parental anniversary: Card bought.
Mother's Day: [partial ownership of kid sister]
Widget's Birthday
Mother's Birthday

TORI album
LJ renewal
Cable bill

I think that's about it. I technically have a gift for Widget's birthday [hullo, train set!] but I think I'll buy him the kite or possibly toy organizer thingie I've been itching to buy. We'll see how my finances are this month. [I loathe May for the money drain. I do.]

Oh, and the other day I found $20. I waited to see if anyone came back for it, and racked my brain to figure out who could have dropped it, but the only person I could come up with this creepy guy who was waiting for his ride, and I never did see him again. Still have it. I always feel bad when I find that much. Anything more and I'd hand it in, so I guess the going price for my soul is $20. Sad to know.

Weird. The other day, while perusing Pullip Style I found one of those photo request threads and thought, "Hey, if I ever figure out the complicated way to switch pictures from the camera to the computer and a graphics program, I should do that." I figured by the time all those stars aligned, someone else would come along and have fulfilled the request, as that always happens when I decide to try one 'em. Seriously, I cannot be the only person with Timmy, Zuora, and Suigintou. But apparently the task was too daunting, or maybe it was asked elsewhere, too, and I just found it on PS. I don't know, but the stars aligned, sort of. So the grey haired Pullips got their moment in the sun.

Grey. )

I love these four, although Timulus has some serious hair issues. Dude, man, dude.

I should sleep sometime this century. Wheeeeeeeee!
