accenty goodness
Aug. 28th, 2007 02:38 pmWhen Mumsy found out that I'd caved to the almighty Netflix, she had but one request. Miss Potter, if I would be so kind. So I requested it and she watched it and seemed quite satisfied. Figuring what the hell, I watched it, too.
Sometimes I completely forget that I love Ewan McGregor. I don't know how I manage this, all things considered, but it happens. I guess this way I get to fall in cinematic love all over again each time I see him in something, which isn't anything to complain about. As for the movie itself, at first I was a bit skeptical. You pretty much tumble right into her life, which is fun, but the whole chatting with drawings bit is momentarily off-putting. I guess it's that much more satisfying later when you realize you haven't batted an eyelash the next fifteen or so times it happens, seeing as you've fallen completely under the movie's spell. Which I did, and I bawled at all the right places and giggled when I suspect I was supposed to, and didn't feel emotionally manipulated even when I knew full well what was going to have to happen eventually. Like a baby. *sniffle*
Can't say I watched all the special features, as I was hoping to finish in time to pop it in the mailbox this afternoon before the mail came, but alas, I was off by about fifteen minutes. Particularly vexing when you realize there weren't a ton of extras to be had anyway.
There's nothing like a really good movie, even if you know it isn't perfect, to make the day that much better. Frankly, today definitely needed something to save it from complete and utter disaster of the completely dull variety.
On the other end of my weirdness spectrum, now I get to look forward to overdosing on House, season three. Yay! Granted, I won't get to indulge until Thursday at the earliest, but still, that should give me enough time for another disc to at least be on its way.
