and now for something boring
Dec. 9th, 2008 10:46 amOkie chobie, the gifts are slowly accumulating in my closet. I swear, I'm going to clear out my closet one of these days. Just... not today. Or this week, most likely. Anyway, yesterday's shopping trip didn't exactly yield the results I was hoping for. I went out looking to find shiny things, particularly for Tracy and Arianne, since neither has given me a hint as to what to get them. I found something for Arianne, although it's not exactly shiny, but it's useful and pretty and should go with her color scheme. I'm hoping it'll still be there next weekend. Or that I'll find something similar at the same price or cheaper. On the off-chance she finds this, I'll risk spoiling it so she can have time to scream nooooooooooooooooooooooo! Nifty red/black dinner set from World Market.
Tracy, alas, was a bust. I found a small shiny trinket but not a gift-gift. Went to Ross and hoped for shiny things. If anyone else around me had the same need for glassware I did, I would have been set. As it was, strike two. Truthfully, I didn't expect to find a damn thing there, so it wasn't exactly a loss.
Went to Once Upon A Child in hopes of finding Ozma some jammies as Jackie said that's what she needed. I also hoped for something with Ariel on it because Ozma has a thing for Ariel and I encourage the redhead love whenever possible. I spent more time looking for those pajamas than I did anything else. In the end Mumsy found two pairs, both were probably too big. One was Christmasy and I figured she'd outgrow it by next Christmas and it wouldn't fit for this one, so it went back. And the other needed a good soak in the Snuggle, which I'm sure you're not supposed to do or something. BUT Mumsy did find an Ariel jacket that was too awesome to leave there, even if the odds are good that it too is a little too big. I need a small toy or something [clothes are boring, even if they are covered in your favoritest thing ] and she's off my list.
Wow. One and a half people off my list. :P And I've decided that Amazon is a frickin' whore. This is twice that I've gone away for less than a day and their prices have risen. This time it was just a small hike [50 cents] but hey, the first one cost them a sale because it doubled and then jumped up again. This one just pisses me off. But it's the cheapest way to get part of Mumsy's gift [I'm thinking the other part will be shoes, and I need to say this here so I don't forget later] and Joan's present. Joan's getting the romance trilogy she wanted, small price hike just vexing is all, and Mumsy will be getting her trilogy thanks to the 4-for-3 special. [One of Mumsy's adds in to the 4 part, the fifth book pushes the order over 25, and then I snag the third of her books on paperbackswap, hopefully.] I'll include a little PBS thing for Joan's books in case she doesn't like them or wants to send them off and get new books instead. It'll be like the gift that keeps giving.
I have a vague idea of what to get Tracy and I'll order that this morning after a bit of checking elsewhere for something that screams, "Oi! I'm cuter!" and Kathleen I think will get what she got last year, which was a Netflix subscription-coupon because she can stretch a coupon like no one else I know.
Okay, Joan's gift and part of Mumsy's have been ordered. I can cross her off the list.
I know, it's all terribly boring because it's not for you, but my rambling options are limited, so suck it up and skip to the comm next on your list or something. :P
I'm not sure why I don't have a Supernatural icon. I should. I'm slowly making my way through Season 3, although I do admit it would be easier if I just snagged the next disc from Netflix. But that would be cheating! Actually, uh, forget that, kay? Yeah. Supernatural=love. Why the hell do I get to read the TV Guide letters about it never making the cover and yet still no cover story? Do I really need 30 out of 50 or so options being CSI? No. No I really do not.
One of my favorite semi-regulars at work lost his job. He and his wife [who is also a semi-regular, but I never remember that she's his wife unless they come in together] are both out of jobs and I feel so bad for them because he's so nice and she seems nice, too. :/
