Jessssssssssssss.
And now, a rant. I tire of the following:
Person A asks, "Which of these two dolls should I get? Do you have either/both? What do you like/dislike about them?"
Horde answers: Get which doll YOU feel connected to.
Fifty.
Billion.
Times.
Once or twice (especially over the span of an entire thread if it lasts more than one page) is more than sufficient. Otherwise offer your opinion or shut the hell up.
There's a difference between looking for actual feedback (as this scenario is) and asking other people to make your mind up for you (which is when I don't mind the ninety billion "choose your own!" answers). In this case someone wants information. All dolls are not created equal, even in the same line.
My Scene wise, I would push blonde!Delanecy over most of the brunettes because I think the pale skin with the white hair, streaks, and general Delancey attitude is nifty, even if most of the brunettes are frequently prettier.
AG wise, I love my Sam, but I don't think I'd really push anyone to buy a PM Sam if they were at all interested in her not being washed out. Prettiest eyelashes in town, definitely. Lovely hair color? You betcha. But she's washed out and looks a bit sickly at times.
Or Nellie versus Elizabeth, archival be damned? Nellie. Hands down, no questions asked. Prettier eyes, cute hair, freckles, and she's freakin' adorable. Lizbeth tends to look a bit vacant if you're not careful and while her hair is super soft and awfully lovely, she's not Elizabeth really. Same face mold, both blonds of a sort with blue eyes, although different colors in terms of hair and eyes.
Pullips? DUDE. I own like, fifty. I am not the girl to ask about self control. But obviously Princi is the one to rule them all. Oh, you wanted a type 3? I think RIDa is awesome enough that I have two.
And so on. Sometimes you need more than just being told to choose your own adventure. I will, in my own time. I'd just like to know if there's anything to avoid.
Oddly enough, if I remember properly from my time in Pullip-dom, the Pullip people were far more likely to tell you the cons of a certain doll without being all, "You gotta choose your own, girl. Seriously." condescending. They understood that sometimes what made one doll awesome to person A would make her not so awesome to everyone else on the planet.
Tomorrow I think we'll discuss books.
