an assortment of stuff

In other news, I've been on a Desperate Housewives kick. I'm pretty bad at watching the show when it actually airs (and truthfully I never remember to record it anymore) but there are few things I like better than declaring a day/week DH-centric and overdosing on the show. I know all too well how a season can seem much better without the weeks/months in between episodes (I'm looking at you, Charmed) but after pretty much every season (aside from S1), I always wonder why people tend to bitch so vehemently about it.
More often than not, I am entertained. Possibly in the ways the writers originally intended, even! That's pretty damn difficult to do these days. I like that they have their characters do awful things to one another (...shut up) and then attempt to fix them. Granted, I have a horrible memory for shows I do not engage in any fandom activity in, so I've probably forgotten half the miserable things they've done, but that's also kind of the point. You bring them back from the edge and make me love or at least like them again. Is good times. The ONLY thing driving me batty is that I can find lj-comms for the acquisition of shows I don't even watch, but I can't find one for DH. The hell, people. So, uh, if you know of one... *cough* You know where I am.
Ventured to Target this morning to buy someone's birthday present. Turns out I am the only person on this planet not watching Burn Notice. EVERYONE else is. You probably are and don't even know it. For my part, it's not that I don't find the premise interesting, it's that I can't see Fiona without waiting for a cartoon moment where the wind that's always blowing her hair around snaps her in half like a twig. I just keep waiting and it keeps not happening and within a minute or three (always in the middle of an episode) I walk away because this is not the time to pick up a new show.
I hope Target gets the snowcone syrup in this year. And soon. Also, it's a bit vexing for there to be only one line and I always end up in line behind the lady who doesn't realize that you can/should swipe your card during the ringing up of your items. Then she wants to chat a bit as the cashier shoots me this, "Sorry!" look while I'm waiting there with my three items (in this case it was six) and then I realize there are two people behind me in line. THEN someone appears to ring those two people up and I'm still stuck behind the clueless lady whose transaction is finished but refuses to move out of the damn way so I can swipe my card.
I love you, Target, but this happens all too often. *shakes fist* So, cherry syrup, kay? Is good.
