in which I debate monetary issues
Nov. 7th, 2011 04:02 pm Sometimes I try to be good and the universe decides it's time to tempt me. Tempt me hardcore. We're talking Bubbles level of hardcore, k?
I was good. I paid my credit card bill Friday. Huzzah! I resisted... whatever else I resisted over the weekend. Oh, the free shipping from American Girl. I used it once, was happy with my purchase* and things were good. I decided to resist the lure of the remaining Disney Animator's Collection dolls for now. I'm in between Need To Have books at the moment (aside from Monster High's newest) and the ones I still don't own will either turn up on sale at this point or maybe be holiday gifts. Ditto DVDs aside from Mum's Harry Potter. I admit I did use my final BC perk on one of the 2.5 Basics, but I didn't go crazy and order the blonde as well (So pretty though!) and went for one of the accessory packs that was on sale since it was $1 shipping. And shipping from BC is always what kills me. SO... That out of the way!
And then American Girl pulls this little trick out of their bag: 25% off all Marie-Grace and Cécile stuff. At first my reaction was: Sweet! I can get Cécile's nightgown!. So of course I did something incredibly dumb. I put Cécile in my cart and looked to see how much that would be.
Holyfuckmuffins. With her accessories, she's $89 and some change. HOLYFUCKMUFFINS. Less if I forgo the hat and her necklace/accessories for now.
So I am left with a serious, serious dilemma. On the one hand: My credit card is free and ready to be used. (Yes. I essentially have my credit card to work on my credit score, emergencies, and to buy dolly stuff. Dead serious.) It is quite happy to do so. On the other hand, should I really order Cécile? Short of someone else buying her for me, this is most likely the cheapest I'll ever find her. Ever. I wonder if I could manage to clean up enough to find enough room to stow her away somewhere... *muse*
* Kanani's Party Dress of Blue Awesome and Mini Cécile, who has the softest hair ever. I think she's scary as hell in that she looks like a zombie (this has possibilities, mind you, but still, she's scary) but her hair is so soft that I'm willing to risk my limbs and digits to pet her hair. I bought mini-Cécile so that when I bought regular Cécile, she'd have her doll.
Opinions? Thoughts? Tales of your own?
Next up: books!
