Taxes: Filed.
I would've done this earlier but I needed to check a couple of things with Mom because when attempting to file hers via H&R Block, it went from "wow, this is super easy" to "Whoa, back the fuck up, what the what now?" in two seconds. TurboTax did not have this problem.
Reason #2 living in SC doesn't suck all the time: SC is so friggin' poor we get free State taxes again this year as well as federal. HUZZAH.
This year's return is glorious. Seriously, I'd want a check just to frame it except I need the money... :P
Now I get to do that thing where you tally up all the useless shit you could buy with your return even if you have no plans to do any such thing. This is my favorite part, even moreso than actually spending the money.
Oh, and there's nothing like this little exchange happening over the phone at work:
"Oh, so you did hear!"
(I hear: Oh, so you are there and reply:) Yeah...
"What do you think about it?"
"Wait, what?"
"Whitney Houston died."
I... do not have a billion little memories of her wrapped up in pretty boxes or anything, but I am an 80's kid and I vividly remember watching some of her videos and thinking a) she's the prettiest person EVER and b) she's ♥ amazing ♥ and quite probably dancing around to any super poppy song at the time. See also: school dances where I did no actual dancing, but they did blast the music loud to cover up the fact that no one was dancing.
