Backorder Roulette gets complicated

I made two orders with the free shipping code (might make another one tonight) at two different times. Each contained three items, one of which wasn't on backorder at the time of the order. Things went fine for the first non-backordered item but then... things got complicated. They marked one thing as shipped but offered no tracking info. I wasn't surprised, when they ship USPS they almost never give a tracking number. But then I noticed that something from the first order had also shipped and the two combined would have been a big enough box to wind up with FedEx. Still, maybe they were going on separately. *shrug*

And then a week passed and nothing showed up.

And then I got three tracking/shipment emails, which was the source of another headache as the Big Item I'd ordered really should have still been on backorder, and was for some people, but they couldn't figure out whether they shipped the smallest item with big item or the item that should have been shipped a week ago.

On the same day one small box arrived.

"Yeah, like she's not going to freeze her ass off in that." And that was with the grandma sweater over it. :p


This morning when I got home from work, I went to check the mail (Widget seems to dislike getting the mail now) and found a key which meant the other box had arrived.

Which I admit I bought primarily for the shoes. *cough* I didn't hate it in store and when it went on backorder, I got this kind of panicky "ohnoes!" feeling so I decided what the hey. So this is the dress that kicked off backorder roulette. :p I haven't decided who to put it on either, but it's actually very pretty in person. The only off thing is I'm not sure what color the little rosette is supposed to be. I thought it was supposed to just be the same shade of red as the rest of the dress, but it's not. It's more of a rust or something? I dunno. I'll have to see if it shows up in pictures. I do love the "sparkly holographic print" on the bubble skirt. It's actually really pretty and unusual.

And I foresee nothing but suffering with this damn headband.


Still, I'm reasonably comfortable with my choices this go round. (Reasonably because I haven't tried them on anyone yet.) I don't wish I'd held out for the Limited Edition dress they just released in stores, nor do I particularly want it. (I wouldn't turn it down if someone was rich enough to give it as a gift, but I wouldn't cry if I missed it entirely, sparkly silver shoes or not.)

Now to decide who gets to try things on...
