Survived Snowmaggedon, which was more like The Ice Storm. But not like the movie The Ice Storm because no. I don't recall anything horrible from our local news happening aside from the Ravenel bridge being closed for almost the entire time, which isn't a surprise considering it's like, fifty billion feet up in the air and the only day you don't worry about it closing is Bridge Run day.
That said, I was kind of surprised by that considering we are not made for ice storms. We are decidedly not snow friendly. Maybe I just missed a lot of fun by staying home the first night? Apparently one of the electrical doodads outside in the parking lot (ours or the gas station across the road) caught fire and then exploded, knocking out the power for a good ten minutes. Sorry I missed that.
But I'm sorry for everyone who was screwed by the weather. I cannot imagine (without a lot of whining, anyway) having to leave my car and walk home. I just... egads, Brain, I cannot. I also cannot imagine how I'd feel if Widget were stranded at school overnight. *twitch*
It was weird going to work Wednesday night and seeing just about everything closed. I think the Taco Bell was open and most of the gas stations. Everything else I pass that's normally open, at least for another thirty minutes? Nope. A sea of darkness adorned with icicles hanging from everything, including the cars flying by. It was odd to see them not so long after seeing fakes adorning houses for the holidays. The real ones were still there this morning, but I imagine the sunshine has melted them by now.
So weird.
And yet the WAG stayed open. :P And left the A/C running. Because below freezing just wasn't cold enough!
