Widgets and tea parties and nails, oh my.
Apr. 9th, 2014 04:52 pmOrdered Widget's birthday present Monday. I figured he's been going on and on about wanting a tablet for quite awhile and at first he seemed to want an iPad and I'm sorry, Widget, I love you, but no. No way, no how, not happening. Then after a visit with his mother he wanted a Nook and I realized he just wanted a tablet kind of thing. So we talked about what he expected of it and wanted it for and for the last month or so he's been fixated on a Kindle of some sort. Considering the review
captain_slinky gave actually lined up pretty well with what Widget wanted it for (and my worries about Widget's reading or lack there of getting him into trouble), I perused the great and terrifying QVC.
Where I found what Widget wanted, only better. So. I ordered it and will be squirreling it away when it arrives. You should see him, guys. He's just so excited about being 13 (Mallory Pike, is that you?) because he can legally sign up for all kinds of stuff online and I think his entire birthday after he gets home is, "Sign me up for this, and this, and this, and then I'm going to go across the street and hang out with H." Still, I put in for his birthday off because I suspect the moment he gets home I will be accosted by, "Is it here?!?!"
The only thing I'm torn on is the fact that it shipped already (I wasn't expecting it to until later in the month as that's what they said) and I don't know whether to wait for his birthday to open it up and try setting up the absolute basics or let him have a hand in all of that. His birthday is more than a month away, for those who don't keep up on such things.
In other news, I have found the one Ever After High line that I need absolutely everyone from: Hat Tastic.
( Auction pics beneath the cut. )
(No. I am not buying, nor have I bought, the ebay listing. I'm pretty sure one could acquire either the entire line or a good chunk of it for less than that listing, and that includes Maddie and Cedar.)
Tiny tea cups to share with my small but growing Maddie army? Why thank you, I will. I'm loving every doll shown and I need Maddie and Cedar like, yesterday. I wonder when this drops?
This is, btw, the first time I've felt the MUSTBUYNOW towards anyone other than Thronecoming Cupid. Not sure if it's a lingering side effect of reading the second book or what, but it's there all the same.
I finally deboxed W1 Maddie and Apple (who has the loveliest curls!) and added to the small EAH army when I found Cupid at Walmart for $12. I also bought Getting Fairest Maddie because she and Cedar are my free passes in the line. I'm allowed to buy every version of them if I want and not think twice about it. She was at work, so I used my points to buy her so she was free. Sadly, now I want all the others in the Fairest line, and I'm wanting the originals, too... Sigh. I was doing so well, too. But I don't think this will wind up like MH where I want a good 98% of the dolls. I think I'll be better able to say no since I'm still not sold on the head molds they use.
Anyway, the Maddies are hanging out with the ponies on my bookcase.
When my plans fell through for Sunday, I cleaned up a bit. Couldn't bring myself to wipe down the desk of it's little Kali paw prints, though. I keep expecting to have to shoo her away from my dinner or quiet her at the water dish (the acoustics in the hall made for great singing, apparently?) or I still twitch when I put something on the counter to the left of the sink because I expect her to fly through the air and knock it over. Old habits, I suppose.
On the nail front, my Spidey Sense finally started chipping/peeling/flaking off, so I decided to try out my Maybelline Gilded Rose. (Naturally the sun has gone to hide so no pics of mine, but have some of someone else's swatches.) I feel so fancy. :P Also, I really should have filed down my nails when I had the chance because the ring finger is now just long enough to be annoying while typing but it looks so pretty that I'm forced to suffer through it til the chipping begins.
But seriously, I feel more like an actual adult when my nails are done and are a certain length. Which is funny because my inner thirteen year old is busy squeeing over having actual nails and all the polish.
This weekend is looking likely for a carpet cleaning and maybe a trip to see the new Captain America movie. That might be put off another week though.
