Dec. 22nd, 2014 02:51 amWaiting is hard, guys. In the midst of the numerous AG sales, I decided to buy myself a doll but I couldn't decide which one to buy. I had it narrowed down to two options, Kaya and #26. They've both been on my want list for awhile but there were/are reasons they hadn't moved higher up the want list until now.
Kaya's biggest Con was that when BeForever launched, they subtly changed the dolls, much like Addy and Kit both underwent actual changes. (Kit got a haircut and Addy got new eyebrows, if you wondered.) Kaya's wig placement changed and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it because there are almost NO pictures of these changes. A few people have taken pics in store of display Kayas but no one's bought a BF Kaya and shared pictures of the changes so... I'm not sure if it's just a case of bad display dolls or what.
But if I did buy Kaya, she was getting 'modernized' anyway... though I'd hoped that Cass and I would be hitting the Charlotte store and I'd just pick one out in person. Sadly, that trip is on hold.
#26 is a cutie, even if the Addy mold has never been my favorite mold. I think she's been my go to avatar on Playthings for the past few years and there's a reason for that. I don't fear her hair because so far Cecile and I have managed just fine, thank you (and also, it's a doll) but I already have one of those Meet outfits and it's not really worth repeating.
So I asked opinions of people and it was pretty much an even split, really. Since I wanted both direct from AG to, as they say, vote with my money, it wasn't really an option to hit ebay. I asked Mums and she said 26 if I was taking Kaya's braids out. :P
I eventually made my choice and ordered and I've been waiting. A while. I think it's been almost ten days now. I am just a little impatient at this point.
^---I've been trying to post this one way or another for days. The universe hasn't been playing along with me so I figured it was time to try, try again. She eventually arrived Thursday but I didn't open the box til Saturday, and even then it was just to make sure the correct doll arrived and didn't have anything obviously wrong.
And she didn't. Doesn't. She did kind of look at me like she couldn't decide whether to be happy to be temporarily out of her box (but not really) or if she was going to kill me. I decided she could stay in her box awhile longer because I don't trust the cat and also, um, homicidal doll is not conducive to sleep.
I have a few things to do today so we'll see how it goes on the picture front, but odds are good since I owe someone a picture of the gift they made me.
And I'm going to rant a smidge about work for a bit, I hope you don't mind too much.
( This got long. Sorry. )
ARE YOU KIDDING ME. I JUST CLEANED THAT.
D's laughing and I'm pissed because this is why I told her to tell anyone who asked that the bathrooms were broken. Because I FUCKING KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN.
I like D. I think she's funny. I enjoy her countdown to her birthday that started the day after she arrived. But as a coworker, I think I may kill her. K may drive everyone else to drink, but after ten years I know what to expect and she doesn't actually intentionally add more work to my load. D takes great delight in doing so and thinks it's hilarious.
