Last week, when Cass came over, she showed me this website she's been using that is basically, "Netflix for clothes." Which doesn't narrow it down, but whatever. So she pulls up Gwynnie Bee and shows me around for the next entirely too long. She sends me her link to sign up for a free trial and I note it for later. Yeah, I signed up... Tuesday? So we'll see how it goes. I nearly died of sticker shock at the price for the most popular option (three items at home) but that's what canceling before the trial is up is for. Or downgrading if I really like it or something.

There are a couple of cons right out of the gate.
1) In order for them to ship you anything, you apparently have to closet 25 items. Which means you're going to need to devote some time to perusing the site and eventually you're going to break down and cry because really, how many times can you look at the same thing before cracking? (Not literally cry, though.) I never thought I'd hit 25 and yet I did.
2) You don't really get a choice in what they send from your closet. You can prioritize items and you can put things on hold (probably very useful for people actually paying for the service who don't want to get winter stuff in summer) but it's still a crap shoot, really. I wound up with a dress that's probably better suited to cooler fall weather heading my way now.
3) It's also a crapshoot on sizes. I cannot tell you the number of times I've said, "Now you, I like" only to find it's not in the right size. For a site that's clearly geared towards sizes 10 and up, they're frequently 'out of' certain sizes. Color me shocked that something that looks cute and comes in a larger size will fly off the shelves. :P

That said, in theory this whole thing sounds interesting. Cass is using it to find cute stuff without having to hit the mall and it's also forcing her to switch up her style choices more. Since you can buy the items they send you, she's also managed to increase her closet options permanently when she finds something that looks good and wears well.
She's also fluctuating weight-wise, so this way she can cater to the size she is currently without having to throw down for a new wardrobe.

Originally I'd planned on just requesting a bunch of tops but realized that I'd never hit 25 at that rate. So I threw some dresses into the mix and naturally my first shipment is going to have two dresses.
Now, I really have nowhere to wear any of this to since work has uniforms and I don't really go anywhere, but I figured I could look cute when I got the mail or walked the dog, or maybe went Halloween shopping. But in order to wear a dress shopping, I'd need shoes. It took three days of hunting, but I finally found an inexpensive pair of flats that look like they'll be cute and fit well. Here's hoping.

I'll let you know how it all goes whenever the stuff arrives.
