Doll huntin' is serious business.
Jan. 5th, 2016 03:53 amYesterday was just a cluster of failures. I figured I'd do my second wave of AG newbies but Comcast kept cutting out every time I'd go to do anything. But only the internet, nothing else. My only consolation was that it was doing that to all the devices and not just the desktop.
Instead of spending six hours on hold with someone who would tell me to unplug the modem, plug it back in, and let them know when the lights were on, I tried calling to get a refresh signal (I tried pulling the plug first but alas, no) and it never happened. The machine cheerfully let me know that sometimes it took up to thirty minutes to complete. I'm pretty sure that was after the signal was sent though, but I'm not paid the Comcast money so who knows.
Eventually I tired of the BS and Mums and I wandered off to pick up my glasses. They called sometime late last week to say they were ready. We took 526 and holyshit, saw the other side of it closed off and cops everywhere. There was a multicar accident, including one car that flipped. It looked bad, but they also seemed to have moved all the injured people out of the area. (Side note: I swear our local news teams suck. I cannot tell you the times I've seen cops swarming a place and later gone on to the newspaper's site or Live5 or any of the local news sites, really, and NOTHING is posted. Or if it is, it's someone like me asking, "hey, what's the deal with all the blue lights ___? )
The glasses place was pretty packed so we had to wait (and wait and wait some more) to get my glasses. Unlike last time, they actually checked to see if they fit properly, but didn't tighten the screws and clean my old pair. Sadness. They also conned me out of buying their stupid glasses cleaner, but I figure the bottle will tide us over for quite awhile. Plus, free refills. Or something.
Went to the North area Target where they had further reduced dolls! Huzzah! Except they didn't really have anyone I wanted or I didn't have the money to buy them. I wanted Freak du Chic Rochelle, but $20 was a bit out of my range considering I also wanted W2W Maddie and who knew what I might find at the local Target... plus she was open and if I'm paying for a playset, I want it alllllllllll. Unless it's like the time I bought one of the Spectra sets for $5 and then dude, so long as the doll is there, I'm cool.
Anyway. Local Target? Complete failure. They hadn't further reduced anything but had dolls I wanted and were mocking me. Also, both Targets were swarming with kids. I could understand the little kids (though I'd hoped that maybe the moms would have tired of taking them out after all the holiday shopping, but no) but some of those kids should have been in school. They can't have all been homeschooled. Mums suggested maybe private schools didn't go back just yet.
I did see the new Genie Descendants Evie and Mal and I like they both quite a bit. Want them both, but again, limited funds at the moment. I'm guessing the Birthday Bash line comes with Rosabella and Cedar in one case and the other two are... who knows where? Because I see Rosa and Cedar each time I look (I think Rosabella looks kind of awful in lemon yellow) but never Duchess. :(
I didn't see the Star Darlings and the resets are clearly only half done. The worker bees were clearly hard at work so I didn't bother them with questions because I know resets are a pain in the duff.
Sigh. Other people have the best luck with Target clearance sales and I'm sitting over here choosing between Maddie with eye wonk or Maddie whose head might potentially not be attached. :P
And also with the sigh: they didn't have either Lea's books or Melody's book, so I couldn't snag those instead.
Made it home to discover the internet issues continued. Threw up my hands and found a way to reset the stupid thing myself and voila. It's been behaving nicely ever since. I watched a few youtube videos and fell asleep. Mm. Sleep.
Trying to work up the spirit to take the annual holiday dress photo of the AG army. I did manage to get everyone dressed this year, unlike Halloween, so it seems a waste to not get a shot of it before switching over to wintry looks.
And a thought just hit me: remember when I bought whatever winter white outfit that looked like it came straight off a Disney Channel tv show mean girl? Totally gonna put Lea in that when/if I cave. Yessssss, all the evil in one concentrated area. Muhahaha... With my luck I'd wind up with a sweet looking one. Boo.
