An update on the Sephora annoyance: my credit card is finally showing a charge back from them. Sadly, my promised points are still MIA. So I emailed them in my best barely controlled rage voice and we'll see how that goes.

In other beauty-ish news, I tried the L'Oreal Colour Riche Monos eyeshadow in two shades. I considered the greens but eventually went with two basic shades. On the one hand, Paris Beach is like freakishly pigmented and Pain Au Chocolate is gorgeous, thus making me feel a little better about getting another round of neutral shades. However, whoever said that they don't blend worth a damn with one another was so spot on. I tried, oh how I tried, and it just did not work. So these might play well with others, but they do not play well with each other. However, I got mine for about $2 each after sales/discounts/coupons were factored in and that's not bad considering work has 'em for $6.99. I mostly bought them because I kept hearing how weirdly nifty the gel-infused (?) texture was. I do have to say that they're pretty fun to just kind of finger paint with but that's not exactly what they were intended for. :P

Onward! Work also had a new item from Splat! Hair Color. So new that Google is just staring blankly at me even though it's shown up in magazine ads already. Hair Colorizer in Pink/Purple/Blue. I went with blue because it was a really cold day (the day it snowed) and tried it out yesterday. The gimmick is that you only have to leave it on for 5/10/20 minutes, depending on how pigmented/bright you want the color.
Problems arose almost immediately. The box says to apply to dry hair, the bottle says to shampoo and then towel dry hair first. I tried looking it up online and like I said, Google laughed at me. So I decided what the hell and tried it out yesterday on dry hair. It's supposed to be best for "light brown to light blonde" and I'm pretty much that in varying shades all over, which is why it spoke to me. I put it on, had flashbacks to when I dyed my hair blue back when I was... 17? Because it smelled pretty much identical to that.
It took awhile because it was pretty thick (better than runny) and I didn't want to get it everywhere. When I was satisfied, I checked the time and watched some youtube. I left it on for a little longer than 20 minutes (which means the left side, the side I did first, had it on for longer) and then rinsed it out.
Yeah, even as I started to towel dry it, I knew it wasn't dark enough. It looked weirdly grey and that was confirmed when it finally dried enough to really tell and I took a picture to share with Cass.

So... I tried again, figuring maybe the bottle was right and it needed to be damp. I really cannot describe it or capture the color in pictures. It shifts from light blue to a kind of... muddy teal, to just a weird shade of blue and basically I gave myself mermaid hair.

That's the back of the box and it's a damn lie because I left that stuff on for 20 minutes and it does not look like the far right on ANY part of my hair. At best I'm currently at the middle shades, maybe. I admit my camera washed out the color on the left a bit but yeah, that's where I started with my first try.

In sunlight.

On the plus side, unlike the other Splat colors I've tried, it rinsed clear pretty quickly and has yet to stain everything I hold dear while it's wet. (Seriously, my pillows are still stained pink from when I went purple-that-faded-to-pink-immediately.) I'm trying to decide whether I want to freeze and try a third application or just go with weird faded.... this right off the bat.

On the toy side, I think the really awesome Julie boots with that weird dress sold out when they put it on sale last week(?). I only saw it a split second before my internet went down (again) and when I went back to see, it was gone. I wanted those boots, dammit. :/

To cheer myself up, I went and looked at L&L's comprehensive photoshoot of Lea in a gazillion outfits from various time periods. Basically everything other than Kaya's stuff can be seen here. She did a similar experiment for Maryellen, so that's work a looksee if you're wanting more. I'm particularly fond of Lea in Kirsten's stuff, but I've found that honestly, I think I just love Kirsten's stuff on everyone. It makes me happy and is also how I was sold on Marie Grace... and almost sold on Caroline. The fact that L&L's Lea has particularly angry eyebrows is reinforcing my want. And throughout the whole thing, I get serious Vada Sultenfuss vibes. Which is funny since I got Vada vibes from Me's illustrations but most definitely not the doll.

Sadly, my want has been pushed back because the car needed a new battery and could not/would not wait until it was tax time. Do you know how expensive hybrid batteries are? Sweet Jesus! It's why I've been so quiet lately. I've been in a funk, really.
