dammit, hurricane. No.
Oct. 4th, 2016 09:26 am... kay. I don't need my brother calling up at 6am, freaking out about what our plans are for the hurricane if it hits. I understand wanting to know if we have a plan or not, but considering he "has to stay" um, how does this help me? Seriously, if we get bitchslapped by the storm, I cannot see how his job would be insane enough to think he'd have to stay. He works at a restaurant that will most likely be flooded out because everything in that shopping center is always flooded out when a storm hits.
So that's kind of how I fully woke up this morning. I was awake prior to that because dog walking and I tend to wake up at 3am on my days off anyway, but still. I don't need to panic, dude.
Which means I then went to look at the storm updates (I checked before bed last night) and yes, indeed it seems to be projected to be closer to land than it was 12 hours before. But if I've learned anything as an adult when it comes to hurricanes, it's this: they predicted things better when I was a kid. Seriously. As a kid, if we were four days away, they had it narrowed down to four options and a wildcard, and of those four, one of them was almost a wildcard in the likelihood of it happening. Now it's just a bunch of people throwing their hands up and shrieking, "we just don't know!" for fifteen minutes at a time. Very helpful. At this point, I suppose we should have a vague idea of where to go should it be more of a hit and not just a fringe of rain and wind.
Kinda slacked a bit on my Halloween/fall thing yesterday, but the dog and I did find a neighbor with orange lights up already (huzzah!) and then this morning we found two houses already super decked out, even at 4am. Also, I flipped through a fall issue of one of the various magazines via my Kindle (and then promptly cancelled the subscription because really, I just was doing the trial) but it was nifty to get to play around with the various color shades for things. I might've kept that one if the issue hadn't been so, so dull and lacking in actual fall/Halloween stuff. When the best part of the issue is what is essentially an ad for paint, there's a problem.
