Dec. 20th, 2016 03:33 pmYum, Mums made my favorite cookies. :D So I might've eaten a lot this morning because uh, duh. Anyway, let's move on. I have done zero wrapping so far and I've only dressed three of my AG army for the holidays, but I tend to think of them as more of a NYE kind of thing for a lot of them so I'm giving myself some wiggle room. Also, there's still time.
I can give you a quick, no nonsense review of Me's holiday outfit. It looks like a Bitty Baby dress when you put it on.
Want a bit more? The material is... different? I don't know how to describe it other than it sounds and feels more like something you'd find in someone's closet back when I was a kid. And I should point out that my closets were filled with outfits that were like... 20 years old at the time, if not older so really, that's probably a plus. It's lined and cute but the shrug seems really off right up until it's on the doll and then you think, "Oh, that does work." One of my shoes is a bit dented, but the tights are nice and thick and the hairbow isn't awful to put on, but I don't get why we can't get something that actually ties because this kind of slip on and over thing is death to curls. Or waves. Or hair in general. It's a no, AG, is what I'm saying.
I don't really like the sideways bow on the dress and again, it really looks a lot like some of the Bitty dresses seem to look when I think back on them. But when you put the crinoline on, the dress comes alive and I'm pretty happy with it. It's just one of those things that until it all comes together you wonder "uhhhhhhhhh...."
Also finally got to use Rebecca's new "holiday dress" because I guess we're not drawing attention to the fact that she's Jewish? Really, AG? I mean, it's only a huge plot point in her holiday book but whatever.
Short version: I like everything about this but the headband and the weird plastic buckle.
Longer version: If Me's headbow/band thing went on fairly easily, this one damn near took out a doll eye and possibly my nails. It's too tight and won't slide on properly and the outfit needs it to pull the look together. I cannot imagine how many Rebecca's have had their hair go to hell over this stupid thing. Seriously, AG, you make dolls. You should figure out how to do doll hair accessories, k?
What else, what else. Oh, Lea "sold out" yesterday. There's no way in hell this was a legit sell out considering she disappeared online and in all the stores. No. Way. In. Hell. It's one thing if the doll sells out online at the start of the day and by the end word has traveled to the stores for a sell out, but not all at once. Also, none of her collection sold out prior to this so... yeah, I don't think so.
But it's less than a week before Christmas and it's not a bad thing for her to "sell out", though I think it would have been better had she actually, legitimately sold out and not been pulled.
Work should be interesting this week. I gather the new schedule finally went up and that K hit the roof because she didn't get what she wanted. I haven't been in to see it, however, so I won't know til I get there tonight. Bets on whether she's already quit/been fired or will be by the time Christmas is over? I feel bad saying that, but she's been so unwilling to compromise this last year and I don't know why. She never used to be completely unreasonable but this past year or so it doesn't matter how much logic you use (and I'm talking the kind where you point out how to get her what she wants, all she needs to do is this), she will not bend. She will not listen. I... dunno. It's weird. I'm pretty sure she's not happy at home but she hasn't been happy at home for awhile now so that doesn't seem likely to be the (only) answer.
I'd like it if winter would come along and stick around for a couple of weeks because these stupid fleas won't stay dead if winter only shows up for a day or two before tagging summer back in. I'm worried I'm going to scratch my ankles right off and that doesn't really sound like fun.
Read one of the History Mysteries this morning and started another. Warm happy fuzzies, really. And now I understand why every damn time someone asks, "What time period should AG make a doll for next?" every idiot who ever looked twice at the History Mysteries always screams, "GOLD RUSH!"
Going to circle back and complain about the weather because why not, right? Anyway, I'd originally planned (and we're talking for weeks here) to set my sleep schedule around walking the dog around the neighborhood last night to see the lights. Yeah, it rained. All day. And it kept raining just enough that no one would be foolish enough to turn on the outside lights. Sigh. It did this last week, too. And possibly the week before. Like... really, Mother Nature? I appreciated the cold part, but it was less than fun walking around in the dark, getting soaked even though it was really just mist. Mist that never stopped coming. So you didn't realize how wet you were til you touched anything (for instance, my hoodie) and realized it was well on its way to complete saturation. This is how I found out that my new hoodie is very, very warm and very, very nice for the dog walking (a little less nice for work), but get it wet and it's not so nice. Also, it sheds like crazy. Poor Eeyore shirt.
