work with me, brain
Jan. 22nd, 2018 04:23 amWhy is it that when I'm at work, I can think of a zillion things I want and need to do at home (catch up on my Netflix and other shows, review my various toys, update the want/have lists, try once more to get the bookcase to actually hold books*) but the moment I'm off work for my weekend my brain is content to lie in bed with the cat and watch youtube til I fall asleep?
I'm guessing part of the recent "sleep my Sundays away" thing is that for the last couple of weeks, it's been obnoxiously bright and sunny Fridays and Saturdays. The kind of sunny that is almost brighter than summer sun, honestly. The kind you forget until it happens because you've been trained to think of winter as grey and lifeless when it's just an obnoxious ass, really. Which is probably really nice for people who want to go out and do stuff during the day... but I work overnight and so the light ruins my sleep. To be fair, I should probably get up and close the curtains again (and I did today) but I do enjoy the way the cat searches out the sunbeam and flumps down happily. I'm not a monster, I'm not going to take that from her. So instead I cruise by on less sleep than I should be getting and by the time my days off roll around, I'm exhausted.
Huh. Internet, you have failed me on whether or not I should worry if the cat licks my fingers after I apply my argan oil. I bought a bottle at work (clearance) to see if it would help my nails and hands but I didn't want to start using it if the cat was going to react badly but I can't really find anything one way or the other.
Wore my Sailormoon sweater to work the last couple of nights and Saturday night my first or second customer looks at me and then looks again and asks, "Is-is that a Sailormoon sweater?" Huzzah! So it's subtle but not too subtle. It's not the softest sweater I've ever worn, but I like the length and it does keep me very warm. Too warm, honestly, but I am also the asshole wearing tee shirts while it's freezing out so there you go. Unlike my light blue sweater, I don't think this will work under my black hoodie but I can't imagine a scenario where I'd need my two warmest pieces of clothing at the same time. Both have hoods so I guess if the time comes, my head will be very warm and I'll just look ridiculous but not freeze.
I should be getting up and doing something but I don't wanna. I'm tired... still? Again? I dunno. I'm debating going to sleep or suiting up and taking my walk.
Braved Walmart Saturday morning because sometime between home and work, my last pair of work socks popped a hole. Woe. Because I will never grow up, I wandered to the toy section and finally (a year or two later than everyone else?) found the blue locker MH minis. Because either my phone sucks or Walmart makes it impossible to use one's phone for anything that isn't a phone call (and even then it's tricky), I couldn't look up the codes so I just made sure I had six without any duplicates and hoped for the best. They were clearly in the middle of resetting the toy section but the only thing I could tell was new-new were the Babysitters Inc dolls in the Barbie section. I can't recall if they just had a billion of one doll or if there were a couple but since I was still searching for the MH section, I didn't pick one up.
So far I've been doing pretty well with updating my Goodreads books as i actually finish them. Not so great at the reviewing them but at least I've been giving them stars. Requested another round of books from the library as I think I finished my last batch. Apparently I won a book from LibraryThing so today I'll start work on it... assuming I can stay awake.
Kay, it's either food or sleep time.
