May. 27th, 2018 09:57 pmI'm going to assume that previously I had allergies or sinus things and now I've got a cold because this feels like a cold. The pressure in my sinuses, the pain in the same spots I always have pain when I have a cold, the ability to run through a new box of Kleenex in no time at all... Naturally it kicked in just before noon on Mom's birthday. Because of course it did.
I alternate between feeling surprisingly good and wanting to crawl under a rock and never come out and I can switch between the two in a snap. It's impressive, really.
Also impressive? The number of times Charmed has been mentioned recently. I guess the reboot is good for something, anyway. The newbies still seem to not get that pissing on the original (show and fanbase) is a stupid idea and HMC is pretty much doing the most (sometimes this is good, sometimes you just want to pull the phone away and say no, let this one go) but I think I'm going to embark on my Charmed rewatch sometime soon. I also think I'm going to just resume my "do not read the comments section" on anything the new Charmed brings up because I might just have a fit if I read one more "the Charmed fans are only pissed because racism!" comment. I'm going to say that yeah, there are likely some asshats who do fall under that, but mostly any time I see someone complaining about the new show it's because of the previously mentioned shitting on the original show. If it's not that, it's the "it's too soon!" thing mixed in with "why does it have to be Charmed, just make an awesome show about witches and I'm there!"
Sigh. This is nothing new, alas. Nor is my split down the middle about wanting a new show to watch and suceed versus my amusement at the number of times the higher ups have had to come in and basically plead with the universe to give the show a chance. I also gather the new pilot is out there, somewhere, so I'm wondering if it'll leak or get thrown to the wolves in an act of desperation to prove the show doesn't suck.
It's been what feels like centuries, but Charmed fandom continues to be as infighty as always. *sniffles* Memories.
I did not intend to go off on a tangent there but here we are. Trying to decide if I start the rewatch with the original pilot or circle back to that later. Decisions. Not that I'm going to start it now anyway because I'm sick and I don't think I'll be up for much longer.
In work news, our store has been getting lots of stock from one of the Rite Aid stores and it's giving me flashbacks to this time last year when the store moved. On my way home this morning I realized I'm going to have to count the three billion overstock cigs this week and I started to cry. Like actually cry because I wasn't a snot filled mess already. Bonus? I'm pretty sure half the ones I came across are expired (like super expired?) but I'm not positive because I'm not super confident in my ability to read cig expiration dates. Well, manufacture dates but same diff in this case. Annnnnnnd a casual perusal through Google tells me that yes, yes I can read the dates I thought I could read and that yes, yes I was right. I do enjoy cracking a good expiration code (and by cracking, I mean finally remembering how to read it and doing so without having to think about it) but I do not enjoy being the only person at work to do so. Luckily, I think most of the food and candy switched to really obvious dates. Finally. Something still uses an actual code though. Nips, mebbe?
Oh, and despite my work list only having four things on it, I didn't finish all four. To be fair, three of those four things contained multiple jobs (like task one was sweep the floor, mop the floor, vacuum, and sweep the parking lot) but it still makes me feel like a lazy ass... even though the reason I didn't finish was because it's a freakin' holiday weekend and people kept coming in. By 2am, I'd already hit my "wow, the entire shift was busy" total of customers and that still left four hours to go.
Don't want to end on work, so let's enjoy the rain coming down in sheets. The humidity is killing meeeeeeee.
