Aug. 7th, 2018 04:48 amgrumble grumble. I should still be asleep in my nice comfy bed which is currently buried underneath approximately 137 blankets. But I woke up to a leg cramp that would not go away so I wandered downstairs and now I'm hungry.
Sigh.
The update to the update of the update: In wait and see mode. Once the stupid order actually moves, it is in theory supposed to have expedited shipping but no one seems to know when it's gonna move. To mock me, in the midst of this, Target sent me a "yay, back in stock!" email notice and in the time it took to put one in my cart, they sold out again. Allegedly. I'm not sure that the in-stock notice wasn't a glitch, honestly.
I kind of just give up at this point. I've tried three different retailers and had problems with all three. Clearly the universe is telling me to save my money for my Halloween purchases. So I will.
Oh, and this is my favorite part of the Walmart debacle. After I was told to just wait and see and also after the "well, maybe have the order sent to store or just call CS to see if they have them in stock" and I politely pointed out that this whole thing was BS, I was offered a $10 off coupon. When it became clear that's as good as things would get at that moment, I agreed begrudgingly. Before it arrived, the rep ended the chat. There's a reason for that. The $10 code? Was off a $15 purchase. That's... seriously? Had it come in while still on the chat, I'd have screamed.
Unrelated to that, Mums and I started the new season of The Worst Witch. Well, we finished the first season although I think Mums had seen both of the episodes I hadn't watched and then we watched S2 ep 1 and then she went to snooze while I watched the next two episodes.
I have mixed feelings. They replaced Maud's actress and I don't know why. Not that it's any of my business but y'know, I liked Maud1. They haven't done too much with Maud2 besides sort of explain why she looks different. Annnnnd after kind of suffering through her IG videos about why she's not there anymore I'm a) impressed all the more with her acting in the first season and 2) feeling exceptionally old.
We're also three episodes into the second season and we've spent a lot of time with the new first years and I'm kind of annoyed and kind of not. If they manage to find a decent balance between the storylines, I should enjoy them all. If they don't, well, the first years might drive me insane. It doesn't help that they have the exact same dynamic as Mildred/Maud/Enid in that one is forever mucking up by accident and worries about it, one is exceptionally smart and by the rules, and the third is more fast and loose with the rules and doesn't sweat the small stuff.
But mostly I'm not sure I can buy that HB would forgive Ethel's betraying not only Ada but the school itself when she lets her sister invite the wrong Miss Cackle in and then lets Esmerelda give away her powers and endanger the school and everyone in it. She ends S1 pissed at Ethel and ever so slowly thawing towards Mildred but S2 picks up and she's back to fawning over Ethel and not believing a word Mildred says, even when there's proof. You shouldn't sacrifice a character's intelligence or growth just to further the plot more easily. They all deserved better.
And now I think I'm going to try sleeping for a little bit longer. Bets on whether or not my PBS book gets shipped today?
Sigh.
