Mums and I ventured out into the world yesterday to see Captain Marvel. I have some thoughts but if you're just needing the "but was it good? Should I spend my cash to see it?" questions answered, let me make it easy for you: YES. Go see it and make some obnoxious dudes cry because wah, it's not a movie made explicitly for them. And because Goose is clearly the new star of the MCU.
We'll get a bit more spoilery in a minute, but I need to vent for a second about two theater issues. We went to the mall theater because it's closer and we saw Infinity War there last year and the seats were pretty comfy. I also saw Incredibles 2 there last year and again, pretty comfy.
Another plus? There were showings every ten minutes from 12:30-1:10. So when we bought our tickets at 12:41 and got our popcorn and drinks, I didn't think to look beyond which theater we were in. Imagine how pissed I was when I realized we weren't walking into trailers, but the goddamn movie already in progress. In retrospect, we should've gone back out to the concession stand and been like dude, wtf or just hopped to another showing but it took me a minute or three to realize we hadn't landed in one of those weird TV-trailer spots before a movie and then Mom was worried that in the time it would take us to sort things out, we'd still miss the same amount from any other showing.
So we've missed at least the first five minutes and CM isn't one of those characters I know a TON about so we're both lost and it doesn't help that the movie I think (again, didn't see the start) wants you to be lost. And then Mom asks me about getting her seat to move and I look for the button on mine, hit it, and for the rest of the movie I struggle with getting it to not leave me lying down. Pressing that stupid button should give you the option to either recline more or less, not automatically go to more until there's nothing left and then let you hit less.
Also, maybe thirty minutes in, as I'm struggling with my chair but before I hit full on lounge, some dude who went to the bathroom or something five minutes before appears on our row and hops over my chair. My dude, the chair you're sitting in is not the one you paid for. Which is fine, it's the 12:35 showing and it's not full, but maybe use the stairs on the other side instead of assuming I want your ass to hop over my chair? I inadvertently got my revenge at the end when I tried to finish reverting my chair to the upright position as he came back by and instead it decided "full lounge it is!" so it hit him.
