updates, I suppose
Jun. 23rd, 2020 11:07 amYou ever have a bunch of updates you kind of thought you'd already shared but then realized that any time you sat down to share them you either didn't feel like it, got distracted, or completely forgot? Just me? Okay then.
Let's start with the biggest WTF as of late. One of my semi-regulars works at a restaurant that has two (at least) locations. They work at the island one (near my job) and the busier one is in WA, closer to where I live. The WA location makes waaaaaaaaay more money because, duh, it's busier. The owner has decided to secure their place in hell by choosing to do the following:
Last week, and it was maybe Thursday when I heard this, the WA location had four people test positive for COVID. Given how bad off you have to be to get around to being tested in their line of work, semi-regular is assuming that everyone else at the WA location either also has it, had it, or is a unicorn and just won't ever get it. I'm inclined to agree. Thing is, owner has decided that they'll shut down the island location and claim it's the one affected and then ship all the island employees to the WA location. Y'know, so everyone gets infected and that includes the customers because duh. In response to this fuckery, a good chunk of the WA employees flat out quit, which means that all the island people were told they HAD to work, even if it was scheduled to be their day off. They work at a place likely to be slammed for Father's Day. Super fucked up and why I don't trust a goddamn (corporate) soul during this pandemic.
Hrmm. I did check their FB page and it appears that perhaps someone talked some sense into the idiots in charge as they closed the WA location Friday for cleaning but didn't actually mention that hey, their staff was why. I still trust NO ONE.
Speaking of trusting no one, I feel kinda awful. Mums and I were hanging out, watching Highlander (she was watching with the cat and I was on the computer but in the same room) and then about the time she decided to give up for the evening, I went upstairs and then spent the next several hours feeling goddawful and bathroom bound. Not sure why and I'm not sure that as soon as I eat anything, I won't be right back there. One way to find out, I suppose. Plus side, not puking. I really hate puking.
What else, what else. I had so many sort of interesting things but now I've lost them all. Whyyyyyyyy. My Zoya order has finally shipped but the tracking # doesn't work yet. Oh, Zoya. You are so hit or miss when shipping. Sometimes it's within a couple of days and sometimes, well, it takes forever and a day. Still faster than Torrid, however. Torrid took a month and continued having sales and most annoying of all was the knowledge that people who ordered after me were getting their stuff. I think Cass made three orders in the time I made mine and uh, she got all of hers before mine even showed any movement at all. In any case, I only ordered three colors.
Speaking of polish, I went for my rainbow nails last week and while I didn't get a picture (I might be able to grab one of the left hand but no promises due to weather) I did get many a compliment. So I'll share the colors used and later throw in a pic if I manage to take an okay one. Not even trying for decent here. :P
Revlon Spidey Sense, Covergirl Flamed Out, KL Polish Tropicana, Sinful Colors San Francisco, KL Polish Matanzas, Sinful Colors Let's Talk, Essie Tangoed In Love, Holo Taco Rainbow Snow, One Coat Black and Linear Holo top coat on top of most of them. I didn't like the holo on top of Matanzas, so I didn't do it on both nails that I had the color on (it was on my left thumb and right index finger because it was too pretty to doom to the shorted, stubbiest nail at the time) and I don't think it really worked for Tropicana either, but it was/is STUNNING over the purple shades. So stunning that as soon as I finish here, I'm painting the rest of my right hand with Let's Talk and the linear top coat. SO PRETTY. So basically rainbows on top of a rainbow. My favorite reaction was the maybe ten year old boy who flipped out happily over it. ♥ He was so sweet and complimentary.
What else, what else. I dyed my hair again and this is going to sound really weird but I really love how the roots came out? I do think I'm going to have to go lighter the next time I decide to do it because the rest just looks kinda meh when indoors.
AG is readying a release for sometime this week, maybe? We're apparently getting three new Truly Me dolls (83 is lightest vinyl Josefina mold with tight blond curls and either brown or hazel eyes, 84 is the long haired lightest vinyl Jess mold, and 85 is a darkest vinyl Addy mold with longer curls) and a bunch of shiny things but I'll be damned if I'm watching a YT video to get details. Nah, I'll wait.
Oh! The BSC trailer dropped yesterday and it is absolutely adorable. Mal and Jessi (I assume) pop up in the camp scenes, so maybe we're getting Camp Mohawk, even though it's been renamed to Camp Moosehead apparently.
It's funny but even with all the changes, this feels more BSC-y than the previous show and definitely more than the movie. Both of which have different places in my heart, btw. But the Mary Anne bit where she kind of marvels at how people who don't really know her say she's hilarious? SAME. Claudia and Kristy discussing the phone and whether it even works? So cute. Sam being grossly funny at the table? Sounds about right. My hopes are high for this. You will hear about this, for good or bad, for awhile. I'm not even sorry.
