Sep. 1st, 2020 03:49 amI woke up to the most annoying tickle in your throat kind of cough. The one that feels like something small (like a seed) is stuck and madness ensues. I also seem to have the full sinus headache now, so gimme a sec to do something about that. Note to self, if that didn't work, give in and accept the Benadryl coma option.
Since we've begun with the grievances, let me carry on. Last week was employee discount day at work (friday) and despite the fact that the Halloween stuff was pulled off the top of the bays and loaded onto the uboats for MOST OF THE WEEK, they didn't put it out until Friday night. Y'know, right when discount day was ending. ;_; The only reason this isn't being screamed even louder is that when C bought her stuff right before midnight (she was setting it) it wasn't ringing up as the store brand pricing. (So 25% off instead of 40%) I did find a few things I wanted but I only bought three things. Two were tiny little keychain Squishmallows (because I clearly have a problem) and one was a tiny version of the pumpkin black cats I've been wanting to make/buy for years. I wish they'd made (or that we had?) both versions but I like my little round kitty and pics will come at some point because uh-duh. I'm trying to be good with my Halloween purchases as I think at this point I've kind of run out of room for them inside but oh, how easily I fall in love.
Speaking of Halloween grievances- my Target preorder came in and I opened the box Sunday. Right away I knew something was wonky with the projection treat bucket I bought zee goddaughter as it was making rattling sounds. The light-up handle works but the projector light thing? Broke in transit. The irony being that this was the only thing they'd bothered to wrap in the slightest layer of bubble wrap. I told Cass about it (and that the replacement had already been ordered by the time I mentioned it to her) and she said she wasn't surprised as we've had terrible luck with her buckets. Which reminded me that yes, this is true. Spirit Halloween did fuck me over last year. D'oh!
But the worst part is they have this fairy garden set with a dragon and since the package it comes in is a flimsy plastic clamshell kind of thing, it popped open in shipping and the dragon lost his head. It's not available for replacement so if I want one, I'll have to brave the store. Which I was trying to avoid this year for obvious reasons. It's also not one of the sets that I bought the wooden version of, and naturally that's sold out, too. WOE.
Still waiting for Peach Cobbler (the bear, not the dessert I would never eat because peaches are gross in all forms) to appear. Sigh. Patience is rarely my virtue.
Realized yesterday that a lot of people were getting their HoloTaco orders already and that those who piped up and said they hadn't were being told to DM the company. I waffled for a bit, because they do say for launches to give them 14 business days to ship, but I also ordered pretty early on launch day so... I emailed. I got two different responses (both basically saying that I was right, due to launch day and Covid, there could be delays) with the second one actually double checking to make sure the order was still showing on their end and not glitched out, as orders can seem to do in other shops. Then surprise, surprise, I got a shipping notice at dinner time. :P
My Yankee Candle order apparently shipped (or at least is boxed and ready for pickup) so I guess I'll get to see the ghosties in person. My bigger pumpkin kitties are in prepping to ship stage, apparently (eeeeeeeeee!) and I think that's it, mail wise.
The oven was fixed (I guess, I haven't used it yet) yesterday and Mom was right that it was just a matter of swapping out the heating element. Which took like thirty seconds. After waiting a month and a half for someone to come and do it. o_O
When looking for the superglue to fix my poor dragon (never found it), I found the nail polishes I thought were floating around in my room but couldn't find for SwatchaThon (I think, I'm going to have to double check the swatches) and my dollar tree Christmas-to-be-turned-Halloween village mini houses. I'm actually pondering working on that this month. I wish I could find something more helpful than "spray paint 'em black or gray, give a quick coat of glitter, and call it a day" as I want something with a little more visual interest.
I also talked to K Sunday about a lot of things and holy cow, her husband's death was just the tip of the "wait, wtf" iceberg. I kept thinking and probably saying WOW. a lot during the convo. But that will have to wait until I'm feeling a bit better or less scatterbrained and sinuses punched me in the face-y.
