Y'all really were just gonna let me walk around like a complete and utter dumbass after yesterday's post and not point out that hey, uh... sounds a little less like a cold (see: feeling like an entire brick wall fell on me) and more like maybe you finally couldn't outrun COVID, weren't you?

Rude.

I'm not 100% sure because those freebie at home tests you get via the USPS are kind of shit (the newest ones involve you having to stab your swab just so into the test and I'm not sure if I bent the swab or if I didn't have it level) but I took two and they both popped positive AND I can't smell a damn thing or taste anything beyond "that is sweet. That is salty." which is what tipped me off in the first place. Unfortunately I did NOT put those pieces together in time to avoid work and did I wear a mask? Of course not. Because last night I felt pretty much fine beyond being tired and I'm always tired on Saturday, even if I haven't worked all week. Saturday is for being tired. It wasn't until this morning, at work, after lunch (where I realized I couldn't really taste my pizza, but not being able to fully enjoy food/drink when you have a cold IS a thing) when I realized I couldn't smell my hand lotion. The lotion someone said they used before I got to work so I definitely should've been able to smell her when she walked by... and I didn't. Which is a weird thing to say but you know what I mean. So I sniffed my bottle and yup. Nothing. And I realized I hadn't smelled the hand sanitizer or, y'know, anything all night. The last thing I vividly remember smelling was my perfume Friday night. So sometime Saturday I lost my sense of smell and most of my sense of taste. :/

I'm not sure if I'm fever free or not because I just remembered I took some Tylenol at lunch so I need to let that cycle out and see if this is just my parting gift or what. It's possible that I did catch a cold and then Mom caught the ick and gave it to me, but I'm betting the easiest answer is correct: D didn't have a cold, he had COVID, and I caught it and inadvertently gave it to Mums.

THIS IS WHY YOU RAINCHECK, DAMMIT. I am a freakin' introvert with serious social anxiety! Rainchecks are like gifts from the gods! The only time I take it super personally is when it's my birthday and that was before COVID was a thing soooooooooooo... raincheck me.

So I sent D a text asking if maybe his cold wasn't a cold afterall. Now I've gotta decide if I want to tell my brother or not, since he drove me home yesterday and then to and from work last night. *muse* On the one hand, I probably should. On the other, I really don't want him shitting bricks over this. And he will. Plus I gotta tell Widget and have him and Mom test.

In other news, weird dude at work reappeared when I was on my break. Reappeared as in went to use the men's room (where did he come from? He left half an hour before I went on my break!) and then I look up and see him coming into the breakroom. WTF. I told him dude, no, this is the breakroom, get out. He's all, "can't we eat and hang out?" No the fuck we cannot. Go. Begone. He does... and then I can tell he hasn't left because the other door doesn't open. Sure enough, the breakroom door opens again and he's trying to offer me some of his chips. Dude, you took that open bag of Doritos in the men's room. No. I break out my phone and tell him to get out of the breakroom NOW and debate whether I should be calling up front to let the SFL know or just go straight to the cops if he won't leave me alone. He left, though I never did hear that door open/close, but I'm willing to believe my annoyance kept me from hearing it. I did double check when I clocked back in and she said he was gone, so I let her know he'd been extra weird and what he'd done. In all the time I've worked there, we've had maybe two or three people stumble into the breakroom before. One was definitely helping themselves to food, but that was more than ten years ago. One I think I was given permission by someone else, and I'm not sure about the third but I'll say it's possible they existed, y'know? Yeah. In the last month we've had two guys completely ignore the whole breakroom isn't for customers and barge right in. That's a disturbing trend.
