...I don't understand the CB people
Mar. 11th, 2024 06:46 pmI do not understand the people of Charlie Bears. o_O Last year, if memory serves, they switched things up on people for the collection launch video and people weren't thrilled. I swear all year people asked for MORE time spent on the bears (and other creatures but lets just agree to call them all bears for the purposes of this post) so this year they...spend less time on each one.
In the main video for the collection, you get a mix of the ~glamour~ shots, the exact shot from the catalog you've already seen, or a turntable shot. At the end of the video debut, they loaded all the turntable shots for each collection, which is nice because I do enjoy getting to see each side of the bears, and that's not necessarily something you get even when they do get a spotlight, but it's still not as good as when they hold the bear and talk about it. I have NO spatial awareness when it comes to size (lord knows I try but dude, I got nothing. I can look at one of those deconstructed puzzles and tell you what shape you'll get easy as pie but you tell me something is ten inches high and my brain's like "YUP. Got it." *turns to camera* "I absolutely do not got it.") and sometimes seeing someone absentmindedly pet the bear helps me figure out how soft it'll actually be.
I could maybe understand if they went glamour shots for everyone, or even a mix of glamour and turntable, but why the fuck even bother putting the regular catalog shots in? Just why?
I feel like a cranky asshole (woo, period) because I do love how excited Charlie is about the release, but that's the thing. Gimme a video where she tells you about each little mini collection or pairing and I can just grab a drink and a snack and settle in. I love how passionate she can get about her work and she was clearly super excited about this launch. So gimme the director's cut, dammit.
I'd originally planned on basically just stitching this together with something I'd worked on earlier, but I foolishly assumed there'd be more to the launch video and that's not exactly the case. So... I'll either put that in later (I'm tired now) or do another post entirely. We'll see.
Oh, but I did add two more to my preorder list, assuming they go through. If not, I'll just keep an eye out elsewhere.
