Jun. 1st, 2024 10:54 amDay *checks* 6 of the arm workout. We'll see if it actually does anything but thus far I've done five days of it (we must rest at least once) and it's the right mix of deceptively easy at first and oh you bastard by the end. Needed something to do now that it's hot as hell and I can't be trusted to make myself walk on work days. On non work days I did okay last week, but still not great even with the long weekend.
Adora's got a new apartment because DD tried to launch himself from the roof of hers to my dresser. He failed. Spectacularly, really. Loki watched on and I swear his face was pure "oh, you dumb fuck, what are you doing, man?" from start to finish. She's investigated it on the inside once that I know of, and she poked her head in this morning, so here's hoping she's letting it air out and then she might like it more. I still have the old one in the room because I'm trying to figure out if I just take the slats off the top, if she'd like having it that way. It's cardboard (hence the easy destruction) with the cardboard-y scratching pads inside, while the new one is fabric but doesn't really have scratching pads. Not that it stopped her from scratching the floor of her new digs. I could also, in theory, put one of the old pads in the new place, but I'm not sure how well that'll work. *muse*
Happy National Nail Polish Day! To celebrate, I used my second Mooncat polish thus far. My first was River Styx:

This doesn't really show the green shimmer at all, but it is visible on the nail and I like it a lot. Gotten quite a few compliments and Mums approves. It reminds me of Polished for Days Hitchhiking Ghosts, but they're different. Similar ideas, different execution.
Minor tip wear after serious box truck and cooler work (which always fucks with my nails and is always my first night back) until last night which claimed both my thumbnails. No pics because I'm lazy right now, but I went with I'm A MF Supernova which is a holographic gold glitter that I bought to replace KL Polish's Casino Night. It might be a dupe, and if not, it's damn close and better because it's a one coater. It doesn't dry as textured which is a nice bonus.
I was a little worried about the caps (seriously, look at the caps on Mooncat polishes) but uh, they're fine? I fall into the camp that finds them easy to hold. They have a little weight to them and the facets make it easy to open the polishes (thus far), and they're about the same length as a normal brush/cap so it's not that different. I think I do find it a little easier to paint with my non dominant hand too, but we'll see if that's just beginner's luck. That said, their die hard fans are a lot to take. Like... a lot. And I do think it's fishy as hell that there's no option to upload your own pics for review on the site as Mooncat's been hit with a lot of claims of the polishes not looking like the promo shots. I didn't realize they didn't have actual pics on the site til I made my order and it didn't really click that it wasn't just the site acting up or my popup blocker working overtime until I joined their FB group and someone mentioned it deep, deep in the comments on a post about which polishes aren't your favorites. Luckily for me, only two of the polishes I ordered were mentioned and one was Styx so... not an issue.
Basically, expensive polish I would likely only buy during a sale OR if they did a color I really didn't feel like trying to dupe elsewhere. I really only have room for one pricey boutique polish brand and that's Holo Taco.
That said, I haven't bitten on the new HT drop, despite loving the new box. I'm not sure how I feel about the colors (I'm okay/like/love 6/7 but that 7th is just so not my jam) annnnnnnnnnnd just about the time I was considering ordering the box anyway, ILNP sent me a "we miss you, have 25% off your entire order" code. Um... yes, please, thank you. I went ham because they do one sale a year (although apparently they send codes and have affiliate codes, which I didn't know) and I was riding a high of having two of their polishes last an entire work week and then some on me. I was good and didn't buy more than one neon though, since neons do fade and I've got some I want to wear this year anyway.
Been reading and biding my time before subscribing to AMC+ for Interview. Might do that this weekend, depending on what Widget and Cass have planned.
