I'd like to speak with the manager
Jul. 9th, 2024 01:14 amMy vacation is off to a rocky start. I'm trying not to wail too much, but it is... not ideal thus far.
Day 1: Carrie period. Considering my two hopes for my vacation were: hit the pool more often than not and go Halloween hunting... I am not happy. :/ Stil, better day 1 than birthday *knocks on wood*
Day 2: Ran into the contractor who gave me good news/bad news for the same bit of news. The HOA approved the shed fix and they hope to be starting at the end of the week, so the shed needs to be emptied out by then. ;_; I really didn't want this to happen on my vacation because I don't fucking like being around people; that's what the vacation is for! To get away from people! Also, if they're gonna have to cancel around rain, this week is weird to schedule it for since it's supposed to be full of summer storms all week. My birthday week is frequently on fire and with random storms. Always has been. Sigh.
Day 2 part 2: The refund Doordash has been giving me the runaround for? The one I have an email confirming? The one the second agent I spoke to SWORE was processed and should hit my account any day now and if it hadn't, I should talk to my bank? Does not exist. Yeah, I'm tagging paypal in and letting them set a bitch aflame. I don't think I'd be as annoyed if agent 2 hadn't insisted that there was a refund processed and then agent 3 wasn't like "sucks to be you." Note to self, also cancel this one.
eta: Paypal's already like "yeah, fuck them, file a complaint, we've got your back." Cackling. Even if this goes nowhere, the fact that PP is ready to rumble is amusing me to no end.
At least I remembered to cancel AMC+ though this means I can't rewatch S2 just yet. Sigh.
Oh, and my attempts to befriend the crows have not gone anywhere beyond accidentally pinching my middle finger repeatedly when trying to crack nuts to give to them. God, I'd somehow remembered hating cracking nuts but forgetting just how painful it could be. Doesn't help that I don't like nuts so this was never an activity that yielded any goods for me. But for my crows, I was willing to try. I'm hoping that I'll be able to hear them on their travels today and make it out in time to show them the offerings. Sunday I was too late, I think, and yesterday the yard people were so loud that I either didn't hear the crows or they stayed away. If/when I do make it to the pool, I'll have to bring my offerings there.
In slightly better news, I did manage to sort out all the polishes I haven't swatched yet from the bin in my room, so I can begin work on that. I know I have some out in the hall, but I'm pretty sure it's less than the ones I had in my room. I hope. If I'm correct, that puts me at being able to see the finish line on my swatch-a-thon! :D Basically at the PPU and BKL I picked up during their swan song sales. I bought a shit ton of BKL and some of them I look at and wonder why. Some are colors that just... why? And some are damn near identical to each other and again, why? There are a few oranges I will be astounded if I find any difference between them aside from one maybe having shimmer or one having reflective glitter. And I know I did that to myself because I remember a couple of collections where that was literally the only difference between one half of the collection and the other. In my small defense, I was buying them essentially off the clearance rack and I do remember debating about some of them.
I have had less success in actually sorting the swatch sticks onto rings, however. I keep trying to sort them by variation in color and then get flummoxed when I can't figure out where colors should slot in next to one another. I guess it would be easier if I sorted them by finish but I don't really take finish into consideration when I'm going to choose which polish to wear, and if I do, the cremes would never get worn outside of my blacks. So basically I stall and flail. Fun!
Since we're talking polish anyway, let's keep that trend continuing. Holo Taco's 5th anniversary collection is set to drop on Saturday and it's all but confirmed to be thermal nail polishes at this point. I cannot begin to stress how confused I am by this timing. Not by them making thermals- that makes sense, especially since Mooncat, which is in the same warehouse/building/whatever does thermals. It falls under specialty finishes, which is what HT was originally supposed to do. So that's fine. No, it's the timing. *gestures outside* It's summer. And not just summer, but a stupidly hot one already at that. You know what thermals do when it gets hot? They die. They transition to the warm/hot state and then they die. If you're lucky. Sometimes they just fry at whatever random inbetween state and that's it. So. Summer. And when HT drops new collections that have boxes, there's frequently a delay in shipping. In summer. Even if their warehouse happens to be nice and cold, the shipping vehicles aren't and neither are the mailboxes. Short of them actually putting cooling packs in the shipping boxes (which I do not see happening) they are setting themselves up for a LOT of dead polish. Unless, I suppose, they've managed to crack the thermal code. Which is possible, I guess. But there's a reason most indie makers don't ship thermals in the dead of summer (June/July/August). ALSO, thermals have a 6 month shelf life generally speaking. Anything beyond that is usually considered a bonus. Anything less and you are encouraged to contact the maker. Soooooooo...this is gonna be... fun. Get your popcorn ready because this looks to be set for chaos.
